Default Upgrade ESC and Motor..What did you Notice?

For those who have upgraded from the stock system to a higher power system like a MMP and Pro4 or ROC...What have you noticed most and like best?

I have the stock RTR setup but when crawling the motor gets warm and i have plans to do more aggressive driving like hill climbing and stuff so looking to justify a more expensive setup.

I even went down to 84/16 gearing and the motor still gets very hot after about 10 minutes and I have yet to even try and hill climb bashing. I rally want a system with low end torque but something with wheel speed for hill climbing.

Brushless power and sensored control speed when you need it silky smooth bottom end. The best of both worlds!

with a good 4-pole motor and it being sensored, you get the low end torque of a high turn motor, and the top end speed of a low turn, and its way more effecient.

Warm is fine.....Things with power going through them and friction will get warm. I run the same gearing on 2/3s and mine has been fine albeit a different 27t motor but it's long in the tooth. If it get's too hot then maybe you have the gear mesh to tight or there is some binding in the drive line somewhere. My rigs is quite heavy at 8-9lbs and is not suffering.

I am running larger Voodoo tires which i think contribute. The motor is getting fairly HOT, mostly stock with some cosmetic upgrades. i want to put a nice set of Beadlocks and am concerned with putting heavy wheels on

I run Baja claws on RC4WD Steelies. As well as Voodoos on Steelies. My rig has a lot of metal/weight. I think the only thing you need really is a better motor. A 27t would be ideal. But if you want to jump straight into a Brushless system go for it! Sure it will be fun. (Although if your stock you need to start looking at making the rig a bit stronger).

I run the MMP and a HobbyWing 4000kv 3656sd motor.
HOBBYWING North America — Xerun Sensored Brushless Motor 3656 SD

They have the 3400kv, which would be perfect for what you're talking about. I run the 4000kv, pulled it from a Rustler. 56/12 gearing and it crawls very well. The 3400 would be even slower for the technical stuff, but still have the speed for your hill climbs.

I run the Holmes Hobbies esc and TQmaster 27t combo on 3s and have tall Pro Line Swamper XLs and 16/80 gears.
After 2 hour's+ the esc hardly gets above ambient temp and at times the motor gets good and warm but never hot. It stays around 100*....
Crawls good and spins mud a foot in the air..
