| Wraith, Class 3 Comp Rig
Thought I'd better crack on with my Class 3 rig for this years comps. Wanted it Wraith based this time. Its going to have a Custom Metal Cage which hopefully drops on to all the normal Wraith running gear. My plan for it is Fast, 4 wheel steering, low slung, big tyres. So first up was to strip down my current stock Wraith and get it cleaned up. With that done I ordered some hop ups to get me started down the road. First up is some SSD-RC Wraith Diff covers and Titanium Steering Links. The Diff covers feel very low profile and very solid too.......very scale. The Links being Titanium is very reassuring and you know they'll take a beating. http://gcmracing.ca/viewcategory.php?groupid=57 http://www.rcbitz.com/search.php?sea...ry=Ssd&x=0&y=0 Last edited by northernerbill; 03-01-2015 at 02:27 PM. |

Works been seriously getting in the way recently but managed to get some time on this with a couple more choice additions. First up the new SSD-RC Orange Scale D60 Knuckles. Massive attention to detail and a really good fit for both the bearings and then onto the C Hubs. Got two sets so I could begin the 4 wheels steering. I also took the opportunity to fit Axial's alloy C Hubs....pricey chunks of metal but very good quality. Then it was wheels and tyre's. I wanted BIIIIIIGGGGG tyre's on this one (not sure it'll stay that way) but RC4WD's 2face seemed a good option. As I've got on so well with SSD's 1.9 beadlocks I decided to stick with them and go for their new 2.2's. Again very quick and easy to fit, hold the bead solid. Remember to threadlock the scale bolts on the outer bead guys!! Just waiting for the last couple of bits to arrive before I send the basic lower chassis off to my mate for the custom cage......tick tock |

Next up was to fit the SSD-RC High Ratio Transmission kit for the Wraith. Before you get this out of the packaging you can see its pretty damn fine. The silver casing, flat black cover plate and hardened steel gears and shaft just look bomb proof. So next job then is to transfer a few parts over from your existing transmission Put the casing back together and fit the motor. Fasten the stock Plastic dust cover on, which is a perfect fit. And then get that sucker fastened onto the skid plate. The wider picture The rig has now been handed over to my friend Pete who is building me a custom steel rock racer cage |

Its a very tough grade of aluminum I can tell you that. I can also tell you that I fitted these to this rig and some axial knuckles to my SCX10 and these have a much snugger fit on the bearings......much snugger.

So this has been with my custom fabricator friend for about a week now. He's been hard at it, sending pics, asking how I like it and happily modifying anything I throw at him...............thanks Pete much appreciated. Its well on the way now with the basic outline and some of the supporting frame work in place. For me EPIC!!!!! Pics........... |

| Re: Wraith, Class 3 Comp Rig Whoa, that is sweet! Reminds me of those southern rock buggies I watch on tv. Similar style chassis, they take a beating too. Looks good so far man. Looking forward to seeing it complete. |

Pete sent me some update pics from the cage build he's doing me. Almost there, I asked him to shorten the front and create a stinger from what was available. He's now just the engine (which will mask electronics) and final shot blasting to go. Loving it Pete! |
