Default Electronics problem

I need help. My axial wraith is wacko, I can run it at full speed fine but when I go to crawl it messes up. It will just stop working. The lights stay on but no steering or throttle. When I get throttle back sometimes the steering does not work and then it will all work again. Is it the transmitter and receiver or the ESC?

What esc? What motor? 2s or 3s lipo? Could be several things without knowingthose. Sounds like what ever model esc you have is arming, thats good. Tried to redo your binding of rx/tx? Id do that first since its easy.

yeah my sons wraith did this one day with the stock electronics for no reason was running fine went in the house for lunch and a new battery and then all wacko. I did a rebind of the controller and receiver and a recalibration of the esc to the radio and all was good again. Gonna be getting him an airtronics setup so I can have push button bind if this ever happens again. My wraith has all custom electronics and never a problem with mine.

You didnt say what batteries but if you are running 3s batteries and no external BEC, try a 2s lipo. The 3s could be overloading the servo with the builtin ae-2 BEC.

I run 2s lipos. I went to the hobby store today and they said it was my battery. I am new to lipo batteries and I guess mine was bulged a little. I bought a new battery so I will try that tomorrow.

get a Castle BEC and buy the castle link. you can program the BEC to run a true 6.0v and you can tune the axial ESC with it. make sure the lipo cutoff isn't set at 4.0v in the ESC. I've seen that in a few axial ESCs.

I have a castle link but I did not know about the bec. What exactly does it do? I will make the cut off voltage correct. I always just left it on auto.

set the cut off to 3.0v. A BEC sends power dirctly to the rx or servo it is wired to and keeps a constant voltage and is able to deliver more amperage without causing a brown-out(the problem you are experiencing). it is connected directly to the battery, normally soldered to the esc connector, and is ran directly to the rx most commonly. make sure to remove the red wire fromt the ESC Rx plug.

I just killed my ESC. Is the castle sidewinder a good ESC for crawling? I did not even get to try out the new battery and see if my problem was solved.

I couldn't stop thermaling my SW3, even with the fan. No problem with an MMP on the same truck.

What truck do you have? What size tires? What spur and pinion are you running? I have really low gearing because I am looking for power.

a MMP is great for a wraith, it has instant reverse and you have alot of tuning options.

A Wraith with RB2s, was geared 64/11. I could only get 15-20 minutes of crawling before I would have to restart the ESC and do some high speed runs to clear the heat out.

I can crawl for my lunch hour with the MMP without a problem.

I am running 87/14 gear ratio. I will probably end up hooking my crawlmaster to it. Do you still think that the sidewinder will overheat?

Never tried it brushed. Didn't work for me brushless at low speed. Had a fan on it constantly on as well.

My main concern is it heating up with the brushed like it does the brushless? I can switch out the motors for the different trails I am doing. By the way is there a place to find crawling people in your area? I am in Medford Oregon and I cannot seem to find people to play with.

get the mmp for a crawler its gonna be your best bet. I am getting one for my wraith. I am getting the waterproof mmp from holmes hobbies. I had the fxr pro and I love it but I am giving it to my son with all my good brushed motors and gonna step up to brushless for me. I do like that if I break a motor I can turn the mmp over to brushed and use one of my son's spare motors.
