Did I mess up ESC?

So I put a HPI Firebolt in my wraith spawn which is a 15t motor. I know it wasn't made to handle 3s but they are so cheap no big deal. I lost most of my drag brake the other day. The esc never got hot granted it has been cold up here but I was reading the manual to the AE-5 and it says that on 3s the turn limit is 18t and on 2d the turn limit is 12t.

So I guess my question is what happens when you do what I did? Was I responsible for smoking my brake? Can these ESC'S do more than what they rate them as?

the drag brake is accomplished by the motor....you may have weakened the motor by getting it hot....try a different motor and see how the ESC reacts then...

No Axial pretty much on the $$ or even streching the turn limit a lil you probably fried esc but call axial & see if they send you another one? I have had a couple go poof........

Yeah I tried another motor and it did not work Either. How come I only lost the brake? I figure I would lose forward or reverse. But I did call Axial they are sending me a new one. Kinda cool no questions asked just whats your address and we will send you a new one. Fantastic customer service.
