| Vanquish Knuckles build quality?
Hi folks. I have had Axial branded alloy knuckles and am currently on some cheap knock-off ones. Now both have worn and have slop around the area where the bushings fit and attach to the C-hub. I can only assume the alloy used on these was poor as surly the inserts should fail and not be wearing away the knuckle. Are the VP ones better? Normally the info bangs on about Aircraft grade billet aluminum on VP parts but the Knuckles give no info as to the quality of the material. I'd like to just replace the brass? fittings rather than keep having to buy knuckles. |

Not sure what Vanquish uses on their parts, 6061 is the most common aluminum. The knuckles would last longer with plastic/delrin/nylon bushings, Axial flange pipe/hat bushings are steel and Vanquish has some in brass. The problem with metal to metal contacts is wear to both parts. Even with brass and oil-impregnated bronze bushings, you're wearing the bushing as well as the part. Softer brass and lubricated bronze will put less wear on the knuckles than steel, but they will still eventually wear out the knuckles.

Thanks Eric. I think I have some plastic inserts lying around in my spares box. That's what made me query the VP Knuckles. They normally emphasize the Alloy they use but the description is non specific. If they are indeed no better I can get alternates closer to home. |

I have a decided wobble in one of mine....a VP The other side is not far behind....they are the oldest set I have , maybe 2.5 years old. I have after market ones also, a couple Asia Tees knock offs....no issues with these yet...found that one of their bushings helped the slop in the VP though... |

Erik Dlux makes his "no slop" brass knuckle bushings. Certainly cheaper than new knuckles. Just sayin...
