Sounds like something is binding up. Exactly which pins are breaking? The ones in the drive shafts going to the differentials, or the ones in the axle shafts for the wheel hubs?

Factory pins? And do they fit the axle & hub snugly, or are they loose?

You might look into the VP clamping hex. It holds on the pin AND clamps to the axle. Pretty good setup.

I've been using the same hexs and pins going on two years. Stock pins the wraith came with and stock axial locking hexes.

What hexes, pins, axles etc are you running?

Is this just happening on one wheel, or all of them? If its just one, try moving that hex to a different wheel. If problem follows you got a bad hex, if it stays then you have other problems. If you do need new hex's I would order the DLUX fab cromo hex pins they are much stronger.

I'm using the vp clamping hexes and axial pins. it's happened on the two rear tires.

Are you running under drive (43/13) gears in the rear axle and/or overdrive (36/14) gears in the front axle?

I'd say the hex or the pins are bad. There must be slop somewhere. Or are the through holes on the shafts damaged?

That's what I'm thinking, there's got to be some movement somewhere. From sloppy pin fit in the axle and/or hex or the wheel nuts could be working loose. I've seen a weak wheel locknuts damage a lot of axles, hex adapters, wheels and pins when they get loose.

The hex has to loose on the axle. It takes a hammer and pliers to get the axial hex off. It's a pain, but I've never broken a pin.

Or the channel in the hex is different?

Cut down a drill bit that fits in the axle stub. I did that on my slash when I kept shearing the stock pins.

I'm going to guess it's improper tempering on the pins. They could either be too soft, or are too brittle.

Any chance you can take a picture of how they broke?

Either chop down some 2mm drills or grab some music/piano wire. Depending on the drill, it may be too brittle though.
