Did I smoke my esc? So was out driving my wraith today since it was such a nice day here in the midwest. I got about 5 minutes into it and all the sudden my motor quit working. Still had steering so I unplugged battery and plugged it back in. No beeps from ESC for cell count still no power to motor. Found that the red led still blinks when I apply throttle and stays solid upon full throttle but no motor turn. Tires are free so there is no binding. I am assuming it is smoked. Which axial says that the AE-5 is 3s compatible....so I am at a loss. What do you guys think? |
Re: Did I smoke my esc? Try to rebind the radio to reciever and then try to recalibrate the esc. |
Re: Did I smoke my esc? You may have had a motor failure....does it run with battery applied directly to the motor leads? I would verify the condition of the motor before buying an ESC...was it the stock motor?... |
Re: Did I smoke my esc? Check your motor brushes and the wires to the motor. If the brushes are worn and/or not sliding smoothly in the brush hood you'll loose motor function. Same goes for a motor wire that's not connected securely. |
Re: Did I smoke my esc? I will try rebinding. The motor works fine. No it is not the stock motor. It is a firebolt. Cheap motor I can abuse and replace if necessary. Brushes look alright about half worn. Yes it runs with battery connected to motor leads. I use a single round cell Lipo to test that. I just found it weird that it doesn't beep anymore to designate how many lipo cells it detects. |
Re: Did I smoke my esc? Ok so upon further inspection. The motor stopped turning with a battery hooked up. Missing a brush on one side. Time to go brushless! |
