Here's the completed project Parts list Stock Axial Wraith axles, shocks and skidplate wraith transmission with RR gears STRC aluminum drag link and tie rod esc- Axial AE2 running 2s motor- Axial 55t servo- Towerpro mg996r Topcad steel driveshafts RC4WD 2.2 Mudslingers (cut) unknown brand of aluminum 2.2 beadlocks CPcustom steel tube chassis and CP links with traxxas rod ends galvanized sheet metal body panels with actual Coke cans wrapping the door skins I started the chassis off by using the proline 1980 Chevy as a guide It was meant to be a full length, stock looking truck on the outside and all custom steel underneath then....... I entered a contest on youtube and I won a brand new in box RTR SCX10 Power Wagon So the Chevy body was quickly donated to the scx10 and I was thinking I'll just buy another body down the road. Then the progress halted for about 3 months while I had fun with my new scx10.........last week I broke the stock plastic idler gear in trans so project Wraith was at the forefront because I have no money to repair the chevy and all the parts needed to complete this beast I didn't want to have 2 identical chevy's so after staring at work by mattzilla, harley and others here on RCC for awhile I took a shot at making a truggy After bending, welding about 6-7 different designs on the rear, I finally came up with something I liked Bare chassis weight- 860g I was hoping to use a wraith interior but couldn't get my hands on one so I cut a dingo body Inner panels are made from same galvanized sheet metal as outer skin Chassis weight including inner/outer panels, battery box and required hardware- 1276g Custom 130mm eye to eye steel links, I turned the ends down on my buddy's lathe then ran my M3-0.5 die down and screwed on Traxxas rod ends The inner panels are held together with pop rivets so taking them off with ease is not an option so I slapped it all together for a quick test and it went great, my only change is turning the battery sideways behind the front shock tower Everything works as it should so time for bodywork and paint the chassis is gloss white inner panels are satin black the hood is candy apple red and the doors are well.....coke cans lol Time for required scale items for competitions and anyone who knows me, knows that I like my stickers hahaha Suicide hood I would like to thank my sponsors Crane Cams K&N filters NOS STP B&M LOL SERIOUSLY though, Coke should pay me for this I figured I will reserve this panel for decals from companies or websites that helped create this beautiful bitch hard to see but the top decal says traxxas, since I used their rod ends Aisiatees and Topcad for my driveshafts (2for1) thetoys.com for scale coke bottle, budweiser, starbucks, awesome action chain with hooks And of course Axialracing.com for the wraith parts went to craft store named Micheal's on the hunt for scale items and picked up a shovel, rake and hoe, bucket of ice and coke, notepad and pencil, baseball bat, mitt and ball Also grabbed a wash bin and some dishes but I'll probably use those on something else Baseball bat within reach for road rage situations Last but not least, my driver is......... Sweet build! I think you're going to have competition over who gets to drive it more. You or your kiddo. That last picture had me grinning from ear to ear. Love it! |

thanks bud this is my first try as I just got into rc's after my wife bought me a gravedigger for xmas 2013 thankfully, none of kids like the crawler/trail trucks because they are too slow But it's a double edged sword, they like to race and it cost around $1000 for only 2 of them to race last season..............I've got 5 kids, it gets expensive lol |

The beast in it's natural habitat had good time out at Belcarra today, found out that the Ripsaws suck on wet rock Are they worth the time trying to cut them? I still gotta test them when it's dry Also found out hot glue isn't going to work for me lol I lost my bucket of cold coke, driver's coke, passengers starbucks, baseball bat AND CHUCKY!!!!! | Re: Dirty_Coyle's Outlaw Wraith truggy Looking good there man! Nice build, I have been fortunate with hot glue so far. I use it to hold my driver and co-pilot, Im thinking I haven't taken any serious tumbles yet with my wraith is why they are still in tact. Maybe clear silicone would be a better choice for you? Still pliable and easy to remove with out any harm if need be. |

| Re: Dirty_Coyle's Outlaw Wraith truggy Thanks guys, any info or suggestions on what I should do with this beast is appreciated I know I definitely need new tires without question and the only 2.2 wheels I have are sealed beadlocks so I've either gotta drill some holes or get new wheels |

With the lugs removed like that it should really soften them up and make them bite better.

the mudslingers just weren't cuttin it so I boiled the ripsaws off the plastic wheels big improvement after mounting them on beadlocks with 80g in each front wheel, also poked 4 breather holes in each tire with my body reamer the latest much needed addition, the castle BEC yes, I read the thread and I knew I needed one just couldn't afford one til now I'm not a big fan of adding wires to the battery connection, it gets moved around too much so I soldered my power wires inside the case on the bottom of the board. It looks much cleaner in my opinion I'm usually pretty lazy so I figured the best thing to do is get rid of the power switch so I never leave my battery connected while not in use Just gobbed an ugly bit of solder, but it works borrowing a castle link tonight to set it for 6v |

got the electronics all tuned and mounted The AE2 and cc BEC are mounted on the left floorboard And the receiver on the right floorboard and wiring runs up along the bottom of the Dingo interior I won another contest from Bootcamp RC on facebook so I've got some stainless goodies to add Last edited by dirty_coyle; 04-02-2015 at 02:47 PM. the bec by far one of the best investments I've made for this truck, what a huge difference I'm hoping my next change will help not only with reliability(32p) but also the crawl factor, this is not a go fast truck and I have yet to encounter the situation that we hear all the brushless guys say "sometimes you need wheel speed" swapped over to 32 pitch gears running 54/11= 4.91ish I'm planning to go deeper but I'm not sure how low I can go with axial 55turn 54t 32p vs 80t 48p Of course I had to throw some more decals on Do you guys put decals on your pit mats? added a roof panel After bending the hood in half during a rollover I had to figure out a way keep it closed and still be easy enough to open for access to the battery simple nut and bolt attached to lower windshield bar Last edited by dirty_coyle; 04-05-2015 at 03:15 PM. |
