Was looking at the trailing arm suspension, I realize the current 4 link is more ideal for crawling and trailing arm setup for high speed droop. Also the IFS conversation for stability at speed. So if one wanted to do a little of both high speed and crawling, I was thinking what if you did both IFS and trailing arm setup and then use the front axle and use it for a rear steer setup for when wanting to crawl? Or with the IFS/trailing arm setup take too much away from crawling making the rear steer kind of pointless? How would a rear steer/trailing arm setup behave? Probably not the most poetical, just got my gears going

You're going to have a hard time keeping a rear steer servo together at speed. IFS with trailing arms are everywhere, yeti, TH, etc. |

Yeah I knew other rigs had that setup, just just thinking about how throwing in rear steer would make it act

Well... There's a reason that 1:1 rigs don't usually have rear steer. I can actually think of two production cars with it off the top of my head... Rear steer makes cars (and RC's) get twitchy at high speeds. If you do do AWS, I would suggest either disabling the rws when running fast, and re-enabling it for crawling, or, go with a very small travel RWS. And a short travel on the RWS makes it... Pointless for crawling? Maybe get a separate car for going fast, like a Yeti (this is my plan), and just build the wraith for pure crawling. |
