|  7075 aluminum rod Source?
So a while back I ran across a website that did not charge an absurd amount for shipping. McMaster.com charges like $20 to ship a 6ft 1/4" solid rod. I cannot find the site I found about 2 months ago and it is driving me crazy. If I remember correctly they were gonna ship me one rod for like $10. Half the price of the other guys. Thanks for any help!

Alrighty so here is where I am at. I do not really want to pay $20 for shipping on a few feet of aluminum. Local suppliers in my areas do not have 7075-T6 aluminum on hand only have 6061, and not even sure of the temper. What I am trying to do is build a few cage pieces. Was going to use 1/4" solid rod do some brazing and tap the appropriate ends, so with that being said can I get by with 6061 possibly heat treat it myself and then anodize it myself and then is be sufficient strength wise for what I am trying to do?
