Spawn Trans different then Wraith??

hey guys, hoping that is not the case and probably isnt but i bought some gears and a motor in relation to Harley's thread for gearing for crawling. turns out doesnt work bc i guess the spawn is a slipper and regular wraith is not..... so i guess i need to buy parts to make it a locked spur gear.... anyone have a link to a kit before i go try to search for it??.

is the internals the same as a regular wraith or do i need to change that over before i get all robinson racing bomb proof parts

The Spawn has a new dual pad slipper, the Wraith has the older single pad slipper, but both have a slipper clutch. The Spawn has a different top shaft, spur gear and slipper assemble (and related parts), I believe the rest of the transmission is the same as the Wraith.

Download the Wraith and Spawn manuals from Axial and cross reference the different parts between the two transmissions.

Buy a lockeduprc slipper eliminator and be done with it. The dual slipper is a stupid design imo.

I had the rr slipper/spur with ss topshaft & its bulletproof but also loud weighs a ton & its still a slipper! Go with lurc eliminater & 56t duratrax spur for nitro evader(direct bolt on) & bery strong

Stupid as in proprietary spurs and slipper pads that no odd local carries and ends up being $10 to replace a spur.

The slipper on your crawler is rarely slipping if it's set right, but it protects drivetrain components if/when you get in a bind. Outside of the crawler "realm" it's also a useful traction aid.

If you really want the slipper you could look for a older style one but the new one is just a pain to deal with

So nothing to do with the slipper, just the design a lot of manufactures have chosen to implement in recent years.

Axial may upgrade all of their crawlers to the dual pad slipper, then the single pad gears will be the minority that's hard to find locally. It's called progress, stronger spur gears and more effective slippers that are easier to tune/adjust. Associated did the same thing when they designed the V2 slipper for most of their 1/10 cars, trucks and buggies. An industry standard size hexagon or octagon shape and center gear bore would be more convenient, but I don't think we'll see a truly universal spur gear again.

i ordered the robinson racing gen 3 slipper for it but idk how it will work but since its already in, im going to run it and see how i like it. looking into the locked up rc stuff now
