Default Ring gear movement

Hi guys sorry if this is answered some where I tried searching and couldn't find it. I just got done rebuilding my axles and when I tightened down the bearing caps the locker and ring gear move side to side. It is a vp ar60 housing with vp caps hr spool and under drive r/p. Is there a shim or something I can do to stop it. Thanks

How much is it moving?? A little movement is okay, but too much can allow the pinion to slip over the ring gear. If you just want to buy some shims, you should be able to find some 10mm ID at A-Main. Or you can try using the gasket between the spool and ring gear (gasket is .020" or .54mm thick).

That's kinda what I was thinking but I just double checked and the bearings are moving in the caps. Any other Ideas thanks.

If it's the bearings and they're still good then go ahead and shim it. Ensure that the housing clamps aren't allowing the bearings to slide side to side as well. If they are then you've got worse problems than what you thought. Might need new bearing caps.

Double check to ensure you didn't strip out a bolt hole.

You may be able to use some shim stock to cut strips to place in the caps and axle housing, basically wrapping the outsider of the bearing in a shim.

Buy some plastic housings and caps, bearings won't move at all.
