Default Just picked up a Wraith Spawn RTR :) Looking for Suggestions.

First Crawler, been a nitro guy for a while.

Speed isn't a big issue for me, mainly using for obstacles. Just looking for enough burst to get up and over things.

Would like to keep stock ESC, maybe upgrade motor possibly the torquemaster 35t or something with a little bit more wheel speed.

I read the beginners guide and Other sticky on motor and esc.

Anyone have any suggestions on other motors to use with stock ESC?

Planning on using 84/18 gear setup, anyone have suggestions on brands of these? or will any do.

Im also using a Venom 8.4V 5000mAh 7-Cell NiMH Hump Battery Pack.

The gearing your thinking about using is 48p and the spawn uses 32p you might wanna rethink your gearing. Stock gearing is a good place to try out for a couple days and see where you wanna go from there.

Use the stock motor until it burns out. It gets the job done and chances are it'll last you a while. I think stock gearing for the spawn is 32p 12/56, which is on the high side for the stock 20 turn but perfect for the axial 27turn motors (which can be had on ebay for around $10)

An aftermarket motor is always an option but i think if you're looking for any significant increase in power it will need to come with a battery upgrade. Swapping out a nicer brushed motor while still being on a nimh.

I think you'd be amazed at what a small 3 cell lipo pack would do for the truck. Would be a bigger improvement than just about any brushed motor you could throw in that thing.
You'd be saving on weight too. Turnigy packs can be bought for around $20 i believe, pretty cheap. Just something to think about
