I use 2s 7.4v 5000MAH Lipo's in mine and they're great, however I will caution that the lipo will quickly burn the stock motor if not regeared. There's a lot of info out there on gearing, I'd read up on that a little bit regear (its super cheap) and prolong the life of your stock motor. Mine came with a NiMH battery and I hated it, not much power super short run times etc, I generally get around 45-60 minutes on my 2s fully charged. And buy yourself a good charger, hobby people regularly has sales on them, I got mine for $49 its computer controlled and easy to use.

Amain hobby 2s 7.4v 5000mah. Lipos aren't complicated, I thought it would be at first too, but the switch from nimh was well worth it. 1.5hr run times and solid power all the way through. Have the thunder ac360 charger, works great, 60$ for the charger and $40 for each battery. Worth it, go lipos

No, they cant - 2S maximum. I just went from 5000 NiMh to 2200 3S Lipo and am getting the same run times (although same time with a HH ESC and motor change) |

I run the 2S Orion shorty race packs up front. Light weight and last forever. 4500maH with 100c lasts forever!

Im using Racers Edge 3400mah 3s to push my AE2. Its what I had on hand to power my kit. I do have a CC bec though. I only have a couple runs on it so far but no issues. The wraith is my first car to run an external bec so I'll be keeping a close eye... I have an AE2 in my scx10 as well but that only runs on 2s with no bec. |

It even says in this article on axial website you can run 3s if you use a bec. Axial Racing - Axial AE-2 ESC Set-up and Programming **You can run higher voltage batteries such as a 7 cell NiCad/NiMH or 3 cell lipo with the installation of a “Castle BEC" | ||

Since this thread is already started and recent, can people also state what C rating they are running. For instance, 20c, 45c, 100c was mentioned. I'm curious to know what most are running for brushed and brushless motors equally.

Running the Orion shorty carbon pro 4500 100c lipo. Great run time. And the shorty fits mint up front. P.S. I'm running the Tekin RS Gen 2 and 8.5 brushless sensored. Great low, mid and top end. Geared 80/17. Last edited by Bmelch; 06-16-2015 at 08:21 PM. Reason: Added comments. |
