Default Super Shafty bomb proof-- What am I doing wrong?

I am installing my new Super Shafty Bomb Proof with 6 mm outputs. I ran into a small problem.
The directions on the website say to use the MIP 08137 Revo shaft ends with the Traxxas 5145 set screws.
I am having clearance issues with the head of the set screw hitting the motor plate and the spur gear.

Please let me know if I am missing something here? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

I'm wondering if you need a spacer between the motor plate and the spur gear just to bring out the spur gear..

Grind down the set screw or clearance the motor plate.

I had this same issue when I got my vp ss bomb proff trans built. My fix was different though, I had wanted to see if the 54T mod .8 rrp slipper would work, but to cover my bases I also ordered the 56T 32p rrp slipper, low and behold the aluminum back plates are interchangeable.
Now if you've ever seen an rrp 54T spur you'll notice straight off that the teeth are farther away from the rearrest most edge of the slipper, unlike the 56T, this allows those long set screws heads to clear the teeth.

I forgot to mention that if you use the 54T rrp slipper backplate it will also move the spur slightly farther away from the motor plate, then the 56T slipper will, but there's modding involved, you'll have to grind the 54T rrp slippers backlplate flat, to use the supplied bearings that come with the BP top shaft, or find a single bearing that will fill the void between the 54T rrp slipper backplate, and the front trans cover.

This is going to sound crazy but I've found with my MIP shaft ends the traxxas pin screws in further from one side than it does the other, goes in till the top is flush one way, threads hang out like yours the other.
If yours is the same that will solve the fouling on 1 side then it's just knock some off the plain pin end till it misses. I had to do that with my 6mm MIPs to clear the spur cover.

It's pain isn't it when you think you've bought all the recommended bits & it still doesn't quite go together as described.

Could also try Traxxas 5189 pins 4x13mm

You're not doing anything wrong, the pins are simply too long. Locate some shorter pins like Axial (Yeti) #AX31045 or Traxxas #5189 (<< both part numbers are M4x2.5x13mm). Or you can grind/file your current pins down enough to fit.

Axial M4x2.5x13mm
Axial Racing - Screw Shaft M4x2.5x13mm (10pcs)

These are M4x2.5x12mm.
Axial Racing - Screw Shaft M4x2.5x12mm (6pcs)

Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions.
I picked up some of the Traxxas 5189 screw pins today.
They fit perfect. I had no idea that traxxas made shorter pins!

Thanks for all the help. Now I can continue building my rig!
