i'm fairly new to this truck as well so I won't be much help. But it would help others if you list what type of motor, speed control and battery you have. I have to assume you have the RTR Wraith with stock electronics?
Gearing will be much different from a stock motor to a brushless system. Also if you have changed out your stock gears for 32p gears etc.
Give a little more info and others that are in the know can give you more accurate answers

If you don't have buy a digital temperature gun. Gear your rc to temperature 160f max! When your first starting out check your battery temperature esc and motor. Esc should be less than 120 the majority of the time. Check out the temp every 5 minutes until you finish a pack under 160f with your driving style /conditions etc. If it's to hot lower you pinion 2 teeth and drive again.

56/12 runs good with a 2s battery. I had this setup before switching to brushless.

Also forgot to mention- check out the sticky concerning motors and gearing. A lot of good help there from Harley and others.
