| Review: DMG axle skid plates Wraith/RidgeCrest Axle Skids These are amazing -- you don't realize how often the stock plastic pumpkins are smacking rocks (until you see all the damage). With these skid plates, you hear a nice little clink that protects your truck and also trains you to drive more carefully. They are heavy duty and well crafted out of steel: it's a good strong plate thickness without being overkill. They are a nice bit of weight, way down low on the axle right where it should be. The truck seemed to like the lower center of gravity. I'm going to experiment with some spray on bedliner for a more durable finish on the bottom: the stock skids just have regular paint on them. Definitely one of the cooler wraith parts out there. Front: DMG Wraith front diff skid plate (1) Rear: DMG Wraith rear diff skid plate (1) |

+1 I love my DMG skids and the more abuse they take the better they look.

I'll say it again. Why would you want to take the lowest point of the entire rig and make it lower? Housings are $12. It takes a long time to wear through a housing, many many hours.

I liked mine too until I removed them and ran the same lines, only to realize that the skids were hanging me up on everything! Don't get me wrong, they are super beefy and work great for the U4 world and for the bashers but they suck on a dedicated crawler.

All the skids do is stop the bottom of the housing from wearing through. That isn't something that happens during a race, it happens over time. Even if you smash a hole though the pumpkin it will work fine, I ran mine with the gears visible for a few days. Switching to an alloy cover helped immensely. I smack it hard enough to stop dead in it's tracks from 15mph on a regular basis |

I'd get them mainly to protect costly alum axles and or alum diff covers. Keeps rig looking nice longer. |
