Default Problem Child

Well I am just completing my 2nd Wraith, "Problem Child".

Originally I planned for it to be just an FOFF but darn she crawls well.

Just need to paint the hood, install radiator and fuel cell and swap out shock spacers and countersunk washers with green anodized ones.

She has VP axles with STRC bits n pieces, bomb-proof tranny, Tekin Rx8 Gen2 ESC with Pro4HD 3000kv motor as well as several other manufacturers' parts which I am sure you'll recognize.

Thank you very much.

I am puting the finishing touches on it now as well as the hood I finally painted yesterday.

Gotta re-gear it for a bit more speed as the 8th scale electronics have more than enough oomph to crawl still.

Yeah it's the best looking wraith I've ever seen. Do you have an estimate on how much it costed

The most expensive part other than the esc/motor combo was the bomb proof transmission from Super Shafty.

I went with Vanquish axles but dressed them in STRC parts as well as the links and transmission plate.

Not including the few stock parts it was under a grand.

Oh it took me months to collect all the parts and pieces. I started it in late 2014.

So today I was adding some graphics and came to a conclusion that Plasti-dip is utter cr@p.

Over the years I have used SEM self-etching primer, SEM trim paint, etc... all with good pretty durable results.

The plasti-dip doesn't bond worth shite. I cleaned, used their prep spray and well. Looks great until you rub/scratch it or try and remove a decal then it sloughs off like sun burnt skin.

So now I get to re-order my Monster Energy vinyls and repaint my body panels.

Mind you I don't expect them to be/stay pristine on a trail truck but I do expect the paint/covering to stick.

Anyway, still waiting on the green washers and spacers to replace the purple ones plus I need to mount the fuel cell I got today.

Here are some update images...

That is awesome!!! Glad I'm not the only nut re-purposing office and household items.

Yeah it kinda begged the Monster Energy decals.

That is looking awesome, love the small details like painting the Axial logo on the light buckets.

I don't suppose you know the part number for the Exo light bucket bracket you've used?

Good morning all,
Correct, the tires are RC4WD Mud Slinger XL's.

The wheels are Vanquish 2.2" Method Race Wheels 105 version.

The lightbar is Axial part number AX30709
There are two versions, one with light lenses and one without. The part number and link supplied here are with the lenses.

When using the Axial old school light bars I always paint the grills or grill logos the main accent color of the rig for a bit of detail goodness. I tend to gravitate to those lightbars due to they seem more utilitarian than the new fancy Rigid style LED bars. However, I am going with the newer look on my Yeti build using the Gear Head LED bars since the Yeti seems to be a more modern looking rig in my opinion.

The color scheme on this rig, "Problem Child" is one of three or four I am using for my builds. My first Wraith is red and black, this one is obviously green and black, the Yeti will be blue and black which will leave me left with orange and black and purple and black for my next two builds whatever they will be.

Many thanks to all for the kudos,
Jason

The hood is from new.dinkyrc.com, however, I do not see images of them on the site any longer.

Thank you for the props too!

I'm seeing 18 in stock on the V3 Scoops in styrene and 20 in stock on the V3 Scoops in Lexan.

V2 Wedge has 20 styrene, 19 Lexan (and one blemished Lexan).

At the time of this post, current stock status is:

V3 Scoops Lexan - 20.
Wraith Hood V3 Lexan

V3 Scops Styrene - 18.
Wraith Hood V3 Scoops

V2 Wedge styrene - 20.
Wraith Hood V2 Wedge

V2 Wedge Lexan - 19.
Wraith Hood V2 Lexan

At least those are the numbers I'm seeing.

All of which are under Scale Accessories - Wraith Body Parts.
