Default Sloppy Seconds 1.9 Wraith

First I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you, to all of the members that sold me quality stuff. Most of the parts were bought from Rccrawler.com's classified's section.

This is my first build, if you want to call it that. Plenty of lessons learned and more to come. I've read a bunch on here to prep for this.

I wanted to stay cheap, simple and light. I've had good luck with my scx10 deadbolts stock electronics.

So here's the parts list.

Axial ae-5 (yup its waterproof)
Axial 27t motor
Tactic tsx45 servo kept breaking the plastic gear. Using a Solar D772 now.
RC4WD xr4 4 channel tx/rx

Scx10 axles with OD/UD gears
Rear metal lockouts

Scx10 transmission
Robinson racing metal gears
13t pinion
54t spur plastic (good weak link?)
WB8 HD drive shafts

Wraith shocks 30 wt oil
Losing white springs in the rear
$.75 springs hardware store in front

1.9 proline beadlocks
1.9 super swamper xl's
9mm wheel spacer hex's

Custom allthread links sleaved in 1/4" brake line
Wheelbase is about 12.7"

Moved battery up front
Fastback mod
Hinged hood held down with magnets (need to add 2 more). Magnets failed, went back to pins.

This thing has become my favorite and it out performs my scx10! Except some belly dragging. Tummy tuck complete and I love it!

Here's a few pics.

Wheelbase was shortened some since this pic.

How sloppyseconds sits after today's run.

Things I still want to do.
Needs a driver
Custom paint scheme
Make some front shock lowering brackets
Clean up the rear and add some scale items
Buy 3mm x20mm set/grub screws for lower links to attach to skid plate. I had to file down the heads on some other screws.
Add a Rccrawler.com decal!

Thanks again members!

Tummy tuck complete. Hopefully its worth it. First impressions are good.
I had to dremel a little on the skid plate to keep the drive shaft from rubbing. The front upper link mounts are harder to get to after the mod. I also gotta figure out how to get the interior to work.

Duuuuuude compact front shock mounts are on the way. They should help lower the front.

I'm pretty proud of this. It might have been the ugliest rig at the event, but it really performed well.

Its something I've been contemplating for a while now

Default Sloppy Seconds 1.9 Wraith

Do the tummy tuck. Trust me. I had to Dremel a bit of the skid also. The 1 hour max it takes to do is worth every second. Should of come out of the factory tummy tucked, in my opinion.

Its worth it. I guess I'm a little slow. It took me more then an hour.
You'll have to modify the interior a lot to get it to fit after the tummy tuck.
Depending on wheelbase you may have to dremel some clearance for the drive shafts. I think I slid the skid back a smidge to help with front driveshaft angle. May not be a problem, depending on wheelbase.

I love my 1.9 Wraith. Probably the best rig I've ever had. Just something about them...

How'd those shock mounts work out for you?

They worked out perfect. Stock wraith shocks with super soft springs and it sits pretty good.
Thanks again duuuuuude.

Great job Mike! I guess I'm going to have to build me one of these 1.9 wraiths. The more I see them, the more they're growing on me and obviously they can perform quite well.

Keep up the good work man

I tried to make my own aluminum panel set. They turned out OK.
As I was cutting out my stencil, completely by accident this masterpiece happened. I will be laminating and using it. :-)

As much as I liked the shaq hood, I decided to go a different route.

During the winter rebuild I picked up a freqeskinz wrap to cover the panels. I also needed a new chassis and rear axle housing (broken in multiple spots).

While I had it apart I added a BEC and replaced the bad bearings. Oh and picked up some new shoes too (So Shiny!)
I'm pretty happy how it turned out.

I took it out today and it still performs great!
