silicon bushings ?

What is there purpose in the shock mounts ? Mine are just beginning to perish through vast abuse and was wondering what to put in they're place . Any suggestions please....... I honestly don't see the point of them .
Thanks in advance to any replies .

You can't just use a solid bushing because the top of the shock don't simple rotate on the screw, they pivot outwards as well as the axles flex.

Ideally they'd have a pivot ball the same as the bottom of the shock, which the exact same shock on an AX10 Ridgecrest/Deadbolt actually has instead of the silicone bush.
Axial part # AX80033[1], they're on the parts tree that had the shock pistons on if you kept any of that left over stuff.

Re: silicon bushings ?

I know what your referring too. Sections of silicon tube was used as bushings in the ends of shocks with fixed mounts at the top (Traxxas Big Bores for example.) With the silicon they were free to have some degree of movement in all directions without play. Then the rod end mod came about where people modified the caps to accept an actual ball joint like what is on the bottom, eliminating the need for silicon.

If yours are wearing out, I believe you can just replace the plastic caps and replace the balls with fresh ones. I'm assuming you still have stock wraith shocks.
That's what I would do.

If I'm understanding right, you need the pivot balls from parts tree number AX80033. If your shock caps are worn you may need to replace them as well.

You could also try these, they're 0.15mm larger than the hole on the shock cap.

Nitro fuel hose works well, doesn't last as long as the black rubber ones though.
