Default Need a new servo

Hi

I have a Savox SA-1230. It is starting to fade, and I need to replace it. Can't decide if I should run the same servo or if anyone has a better option. This one is crazy loud.

Why do you recommend that one? It's less torque with more volts?

Because they will last a long time and hitec is great about repairing them.
The one in my Wraith is going on 3+ years and still going strong.

Solar D772 if a budget value servo nets any consideration

$ 22.00 is a lot cheaper then an hitec 7950 will set ya back
slightly less torque @ 417 oz/in... but probably enough for most.

^ D772 needs be powered @ 7.4v for max potential

the 7950 yields 69 more oz/in for torque @ 7.4v
but that servo will cost four times as much dolla'

Only draw back...
Hobby partz does not supply nor support
the D772 repairs.
So basically ya purchase a couple...
and just swap out to another if one might fail.

Repair costs of the high dollar servo's...
seems excessive anyways. jmo

I've gotten two years crawler use outta my D772 so far...
tho' it's currently steering my SCX-10.

Mine has proven to be purdy durable/reliable...
Not bad at all if considering it's cost.

so I'll be putting one in my Wraith/Nylint 1/6 conversion as well.

compare specs for yourself...

Solar Servo D772 High Voltage 0.17sec@7.4v 64g Digital Metal Gear

HS-7950TH High Voltage, Ultra Torque, Titanium Gear, Coreless Ultra Premium Servo | HITEC RCD USA

I'd recommend running an external/volt adjustable bec for either.

You cant always go by the specs they list. A good servo is never cheap but a cheap servo can work imo to sum it up buy what you can afford but dont cry if it breaks its just money hitec awesome, i do have a MKS DS1220 thats cheaper and works good too. look at speed also i hate slow servos

I'm considering the Savox SB-2230SG

Dimensions(mm): 40.3x20.2x45.0
Weight(g): 84.0
Speed(@6.0V sec/60): .16
Torque(@6.0V oz-in): 499.9
Speed(@7.4V sec/60): .13
Torque(@7.4V oz-in): 583.3
Gear: Unique Steel
Bearing: 2BB
Case: Full Aluminum
25 Tooth Spline
Frequency: 250-333hz
Pulse Width Frequency: 1520

I may have to get the solar just to try out in my scx10.

I got the hitec 7950 because I was getting sick of replacing the servo every second outing, just to have it break anytime a friend touched the controller. Since going with the 7950 I have had no issues going on over a year (knock on wood now) and would get it for my next truck in a heart beat.
