| Help me nail down my pinion spur combo
OK so I have settled on my motor esc combo and need advise on whats going to give me the coolest temps and best run time. I went with the MMP and roc412 3100 and will only run 2s packs. I'm not looking for speed runs or anything like that. Just crawling and a little but of trail stuff. I know the AX2 is 4:1 from the factory. Is this going to be ok? I am not sure of the weight of the rig but its got full VP axles and links. gmade piggyback shocks and stock body. Overall my main goal is cool temps and long run times. Thanks |

12 pinion 56 spur - 32pitch gives you a decent trail crawler change to 3 cell and it will lift the front tires |

I am running overdrive/underdrive in the axles on a tekin pro4 3300kv with MMP. the gearing I am running is 56/14 and on 2s its perfect....on 3s it rips the front tires off the ground and has bad torque twist when you punch it. You can always adjust punch control on the MMP but it slows reaction time down when crawling. On 2s the 56/14 seems to be pretty good. If you arent running HD gears in the diffs I would suggest it. The brushless even on 2s seems to eat stock gears. just a suggestion!

mr rick is right check your motor temp. anything from 12 to 15 will work for you. try the stock 12 if you have the kit. - this is for 2 cell at 3 cell you will want a 12 - 14 max - unless you start upgrading gears and such. |

So what is the 15/60 combo going to do starting out? Will I have temp issues crawling and trailing?

I have the same esc and motor set on my wraith and have 56/12 gearing running 3s. No heat problems and crawls smooth. I am very happy with this combination. I mostly crawl with some trailing and the occasional burst of full throttle to get up over obstacles.

spur (56)/ pinion (12) = 4.66 so 60/15=4 4 to 5 is a good spot for cool temps the closer to 5 the better |

Well 54/11 was a no go. Too small to get proper mesh so I went 56/11. That's 5.09 and hope it will work. I'll probably order a 12t pinion.

Just wanted to thank all that helped. I got it running last night and I'm happy as can be. Plenty of torque and speed for my needs. Motor stayed very cool.
