Default King Shocks Rebuild Kit

My Wraith came with a full set of King shocks that need to be rebuilt. RC4WD has a rebuild kit for $10 that will do two shocks, which, as usual for RC4WD, is highway robbery. Is there a reasonably priced alternative for rebuilding these?

I don't know about rebuild kits for them that would work, I'm not saying they arent out there but I don't know of any. I ran 100mm Kings for about 6 months on my wraith... with the weight and everything else they just weren't the right shock for me. They leaked so bad. I would usually only get about 2-3 runs out of them before all the oil leaked out. I got to a point where I was just running them dry because I got sick of rebuilding them. From a scale standpoint they look awesome but they aren't the best crawling/bashing shock in my opinion. Might look at prolines or maybe some gmade shocks. I run the Gmade piggyback now and I'm happy with it. I may go to a longer gmade shock without the reservoir on it if I decide to change.

I just had another thought... My kings always lost the aluminum spring cups on the bottom of the shock... you might find a way to secure that because those are $15 bucks a pair from RC4WD. stock wraith spring cups work in a pinch but don't look as nice as the aluminum ones. just a thought.

Drill a hole in the Axial hub caps and uses those to retain the springs (pointy end up).
