Default HD Wraith gears

Does it batter what side they go on? I thought about flipping mine so my VP covers would be right side up but want to make sure.

If you flip the diff over the axles/tires will spin in the opposite direction.

So just install them the way the manual says?

Both ways work just make sure both are on opposite sides and reverse your motor if need be.

Easier way to remember when assembling ar60 type axles, pumpkins on driver side, if the wheels rotates the wrong way, just flip only the bevel gear 180% until both axles rotates the same direction. That's it.

HD gears are sprial cut. I was asking if they should be on one side over the other because if that.

I've asked before, no one seems worried about that in RC land.

I just built the rearend in my 68 and that's what got me thinking about it lol. I'm sure it matters. I guess I'll just put them in the same way the 1 to 1 set went in.

They are run both ways in the real world, a LP dana 44 front runs on the coast side. HP rears do as well.

Running on the coast side is considered to be weaker, but the weight/size/power/shock load doesn't exactly translate to RCs.

Both diffs on my wraith are running that way, I've wrecked axles/lockers/housings/bearings/everything else and haven't killed either set of HD gears. I would set them up on the drive side if possible, but it doesn't seem to really matter.

Yes, just install as normal. The spiral cut doesn't matter, they're still the same type of gears (ring and pinion). Sorry I didn't answer sooner, I stepped out for a "minute" and it turned into a couple of hours.

i think i understand what you are asking.

it doesnt matter which way it makes the tires turn as long as both axles are spinning the tires in the same direction. If its going in reverse when it should be going forward you just switch the polarity on the motor to spin it the other way.

I never thought about that. You make a good point.

the instr. manual places the ring gear as such...

looking down...

front axle = passenger side

rear axle = driver side

I'm not sure if matters which way
the center chunk's cover is positioned.

but again... the instr. manual shows...

cover logo = positioned opposing the ring gear Frt/Rr

When I built my first Wraith kit

I had the ring gears in the wrong way

and it just sat in the same spot full throttle and all four wheel spinning, not moving forward or would not move in reverse either

then I flipped the ring gear in the rear axle and that fixed the problem

and it worked like it was supposed too
