Default Rear SSD Diamond Offset issues

I recently completed the axle upgrade on my Wraith. I wanted to use my VP stage one kit so I bought 2 of the fronts and flipped one for the rear.
Everything was beautiful and I was happy, until I tested the drivetrain. The rear drive shaft was binding up. My LHS helped by grinding the cup and lip on the MIP. This helped with the binding but I don't like how short the engagement is and it seems louder than normal.
I was looking for alternatives and found the SSD Scale steel driveshaft for the Yeti.
Does anyone have experience with these and will it fit? I can't find any specs on this other than it fits 5mm drifeshafts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can't flip the axle and ring gear and put the pumpkin in the correct spot?

SSD now offer a wraith driveshaft, looks the goods. Don't know if it will fix your issue though.

I know you can flip the ring gear, as long as the truss can be mounted on either side it should work.

Hahns is on to the issue. Unfortunately until SSD comes out with a different truss this is the only option.

Arent both pumpkins supposed to be on the same side for this very reason?

He is used a front axle in the back. Unless you run it upside down the pumpkin is on the wrong side.

The simplest solution to this problem would be for SSD to make a reversed truss so we could keep the stock Wraith look and have both pumpkins on the same side. Plus we could then decide for ourselves which side we wanted (with tranny mods )
Come on SSD give us what we need/want.

You can mod a stock style truss, plastic or alloy to fit with the axle turned over the right way

By "proper" do you mean the centered pumpkin or a different brand?
BTW, these axles work in this configuration, but not optimally. I'm looking for alternatives and hopefully open a manufacturers eyes to a way to expand their product line to a broader customer base.

By "proper" I believe he meant that you need an axle made for the rear instead of how you got 2 fronts. This is the source of your problems as ssd makes a dedicated rear and front axles

Yeah man, you took a risk and it didn't work out. You're either going to have to get another rear axle that is actually designed to be run on the front or rear so you can use those lockouts, or you're going to have to take another risk and see how long your current situation works before it starts breaking parts. Just sell that extra front and use those funds to buy the right rear end. It's not worth making it work for a set of $25 lockouts.

Yep exactly what I meant. I'm sure if there is enough demand would make a offset rear. Start a petition.

Yup, that they do. Unfortunately (for me at least)they don't make a shorter dedicated rear with splines to allow you to use lockouts.

I didn't mean to raise the ire of SSD fans (of which I'm one). SSD has the new scale steel driveshafts for the Wraith and Yeti, one of these may help with the engagement on the rear driveshaft. I posted here looking for assistance solving an issue or at least a suggestion and not just "Suck it up and spend more $$$"

Oh well guess these are too new to the market
Brushless arrives on Wednesday/Thursday and hopefully The Crawl Space will have some driveshaft options. I'll post up if I find a solution so the next crawler can gain from this experience, if not I'll switch to the centered "rear" axle and let y'all know that too.

I doubt there is any drive shaft out there that is going to be happy working on that angle.

How about this for a half baked idea, at least till SSD can come through with a truss,
turn the axle around to match the front, leave the truss facing the "wrong" way, (cut the link ears off if you like)
screw a plate much like a servo plate to the top of the truss with enough material pointing forward above the pinion to bolt the upper links to
(I'm assuming your using a rod style upper with a ball end you can turn 90°)

Kinda similar to the VP plate for an SCX10, won't want to have the holes that far away from the axle, that'll roll the pinion up too much.

We dont recommend using a front axle on the rear like this.

We are going to try and make a small batch of flipped upper mounts so people can have the stock setup.

And the shortest petition in history successfully concludes.

SSD has a customer for life! Love these people.

And now for the Wraith titanium uppers.
Bwahaha!
