Anybody "un caged" their wraith? I've been thinking about doing away with the cage on my wraith. Going with a different body or bodies. I've only seen a couple done on Internet. Would like to see some more pics of them before I commit.. |
Re: Anybody "un caged" their wraith? I'm sure you have an idea of what you want, but I think your Wraith = the cage and the cage = your Wraith. If you take of the cage your left with two axles and a skid plate. you might want you explain a bit more on your plan/goal. |
Re: Anybody "un caged" their wraith? Search "wroncho" I think that is what you are looking for Cheers, Wade |
Re: Anybody "un caged" their wraith? Well I've seen 2 fore sure but not very good pics. One is a pic on rccrawler.com with a red chassis and other is a pic of yellow Hilux body with top of cage cut off but not the finished product. Maby I'll just bite the bullet and pull the trigger on the project. |

The roll cage is a major part of the chassis. Cutting that off is going to make the chassis very flexible. You would most likely need to add bracing in the interior area, between the rear shocks, and going back to the rear. Doing a "Wroncho" conversion would probably be easier. |
Re: Anybody "un caged" their wraith? Well I would post a pic but since most of my posts have been in the regional section they do not count and I don't have enough posts to post pics yet. But basically I'll be cutting the"top" off of the cage, leaving the under structure that holds the shock mounts, motor, trans, etc.... I searched Google for "cutting the cage off axial wraith" it brought up a bunch of random pics mainly of "wroncho" trucks but it did have two pics of what I'm thinking. So I guess I'll decide on a body, order it and go from there. I'll check back with this thread when I make some progress. Also fixing to do a motor swap soon as I decide what I want to go with might buy couple different ones just to see what works best for what I want. |

I've seen a few choptop wraiths with new bodies on top, they usually turn out pretty good. |
Re: Anybody "un caged" their wraith? A wroncho is not hard to do at all, I enjoy it more then when I had my wraith. |

Re: Anybody "un caged" their wraith? Your post count has ZERO to do with your ability to post a picture. |
Re: Anybody "un caged" their wraith? Ok well I firgured out my problem on pics. I misunderstood something I read obviously. Any way here is a pic of one of the trucks I've seen. And bracing the chassis will not be a problem. I was just trying to get some ideas for a "rebodied" "chop top" wraith. |

Anybody "un caged" their wraith? Not an full un cage but you can achieve a lot of styles with a bit of thought and balls to cut cage... Would buy a chassis if you wanna play with bodies like that. Cages are cages, and there is a reason all race cars use a cage chassis... http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/10...7b9eb7247d.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/10...d25b168758.jpg |
Re: Anybody "un caged" their wraith? I really like the look of the chopped spawn body. Mine is a spawn so might go that route first see how I like it. And has that one been wrapped or hydro dipped? |

Wrapped with $7 eBay wrap and a hair dryer ;) |
Re: Anybody "un caged" their wraith? I tried to search for something like that. But nothing. Do you remember what you searched to find a pattern with that small a scale? Do they have other patterns to choose from? |
Re: Anybody "un caged" their wraith? This is the guy I used. http://www.ebay.com.au/usr/takeshi70...72.m2749.l2754 Search for "camo vinyl wrap" or "JDM vinyl wrap" |
Re: Anybody "un caged" their wraith? Thanks. I checked it out. Now to try and decide what pattern I want |
