Default Wraith Kit Cogging Motor

Hello guys, so I picked up a wraith kit with Novak combo a couple months ago and have now become completely engulfed by the hobby. But recently I have come across the issue of my motor cogging from a dead stop to full throttle. It only does it for about a full second than goes to full speed. I have searched throughout this forum with no such luck to my exact problem. A little background info:

Venom 5k mah 20c 2S lipo
Novak timbuk2 ESC
Novak Ballistic 13.5T sensored brushless
CC BEC 10amp
Savox 1230sg servo
Holmes y harness
Novak Glitch buster
FlySky receiver

for the life of me I can't figure out why it is cogging/glitching from a stand still to full throttle. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Could it be because your battery has too slow of a discharge rate? All suggestions I've seen when running brushless is to have at least a 30c rating on your battery. Otherwise the ESC and motor are starved when you punch it. Just a thought.

We were running brushless on small 20C packs before the C rating wars began. His 5000 mah pack can handle it.

Triple check that the sensor bits are good.

I'll look into getting a new battery and give that a try. That really is about the only thing I haven't tried

I'll try that too, I'm also thinking too that I may need to re-solder my ESC/BEC to my Deans connecter too. Just to rule out that connection.

This sounds like the Tower Hobbies combo I started with! My first thought is battery as well. But if it cogs when you start up slowly, check your sensor cable real good and maybe give the contacts a good cleaning. It can be hard to get the sensor cable fully seated in the Novak motor with that rubber gasket around the port.

It doesn't do it when I start slowly, only from a dead stop to full throttle and I did buy my from tower hobbies as well!

One thing I just remembered - that combo has a Hall Sensor test, it's in the manual. Run through that to make sure the motor sensors are working correctly.

I'll give that a try tonight and post the results back on here.

A couple other things I can think of:
  • battery plug - get rid of the Tamiya if you've not already
  • moisture - if the motor or ESC got wet at all it could cause this

This is one of the reasons I got rid of my Novak combo - it was just too finicky. It worked great most of the time but little glitches and hiccups got me frustrated.

So last night I accomplished the Hall test for the sensors and it did pass. I also bought a new 30C battery as well and threw that in but it didn't cure the issue. I can only assume now that it has to do with the battery connection to the ESC. I put Deans connectors on both the ESC and battery. I think I did a good job on the battery connectors but I'm not too sure about the ESC, so hopefully tonight I can redo that connection and post my results afterwards.

Well I finally got around to completely redoing my wiring and come to find out I had a bad connection between on the ground wire between the ESC and Deans connector. Now it works like a champ.
Thanks guys for all of your input.
