Beef tubes in the rear .
 

Ok so I installed a set of beef tubes in the rear and after some time I noticed the axle shaft pins were grinding the lock outs and chewing the ends up and causing pre-mature bearing wear. It seems that after grinding down ring on the axle shaft tang it is allowing the shafts to slide to far into the locker. Is this normal or did I just take to much off? Or do I need a diff locker with set screws to lock the axle shafts in place to stop them from sliding back&fourth? I've removed the beef tubes at the moment and put a new set of axle shafts in and it solved the grinding issue but I really liked the weight and knowing all my screws were threaded into steel. I've looked all over for a answer and can't find one,so I'm asking here. Thanks

Some of that ring needs to still be there to avoid the problem your having. Like you said, it keeps the shafts from moving too far in. Cheapest option is just to grind the new set of shafts and only take off enough to clear the tubes.

try putting a thin washer type shim between
the outer bearing and outer axle shaft ring (stop).

that should push the axle shaft outwards slightly
along with the cross pin/hex.

does axle shaft walk in and out during normal driving ?
or is it going in and out too much when turning - lock2lock ?

X2.... just grind a bit at a time until the axles just clear the inside of the tubes, been there, done that! it will work just fine.
