Default Wraith Goes faster in Reverse!

Hey guys,

I have searched this topic before posting and from what I read the other posts weren't really the same as my situation.

Basically I have built an entire wraith out of VP parts along with SSD High Ratio Transmission.

I am running a Hobbywing V3.1 speedy with a Thunder Power 13.5t Brushless motor, bear in mind this was just left over gear I had. I am also running Futaba 4PX controller

Now when I first ran everything it was fine the car went forward as it should. I wired the motor with A-A, B-B, C-C. However I noticed that the wraith went much faster in reverse than forward.

From what I read on the forums in searching this topic the easiest option is to flip the diffs around and reverse the motor direction. Now unfortunately with VP currie housing it's not possible to fllp the diffs around. There is only one way to put the diffs in. Also in my situation the speedy doesn't have reversing motor direction function. I assumed you would have to do both the speedy reversing and flipping the diffs at the same time to get the wraith going forward.

I don't think that swapping the wires on the motor would work (A-C, B-B, C-A) wouldn't this just make my wraith go in reverse? I have tried this in the past to get some cars going in the right direction, however my wraith is already going in the right direction to start off with, it's just the faster in reverse!.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Wraiths do that, with the diff gears that way they effectively require a reverse rotation motor.
You would need only change the diff gears OR the motor wires but not both.
Yours is faster in reverse because the motor timing is out with it running in reverse.
I would just swap 2 motor wires, reverse the throttle direction on your transmitter & re- calibrate the esc

FYI switching the wires on a sensored brushless motor like the 13.5t in question is not going to work.

Yeah, can't switch motor wires on a sensored motor.

If you can mechanically change the motor timing via the end bell, then do that.

If the motor's timing isn't adjustable the best thing you could do in this situation is change out the motor for one that rotates in the opposite direction when wired correctly. Not all brushless sensored motors are the same.

Your best bet is to change the rotation direction in the ESC programming. If you can't do that, flip your diffs.

Then rip out the interior and flip the tranny and skid, or you are basically stuck at spending money for an esc with reversing capability.

You are correct but in my defense the OP didn't mention it was a sensored motor.

The fact the poxy thing doesn't have motor reversing would be reason enough for me to pull it out, flog it off & buy a CC MMP or HH TrailMaster BL ESC
