| What Pinion Size For A HH Puller 3500KV On 4S?
So I just ordered a new Holmes Puller Pro 3500KV motor and BLE Pro ESC combo and I plan on running 4S power through it. By the looks of things on here that might be kind of overkill on a Wraith. I'm just wondering what size pinion gear to run with a 56T spur gear so I don't overheat the motor?

Yeah, it's overkill, but fun will be had while it lasts! I ran mine on 4s with a final ratio of 33:1 so a pinion of 13 would achieve about the same with your spur and the stock ratio tranny and diffs (hopefully those are both upgraded or they won't last long). Mine was barely controllable at full speed, lowered and drooped. If you're getting pinions get three evens or odds (or more), i.e. 10,12,14 or 11,13,15, so you can experiment. Robinson Racing has them for a few bucks apiece.

11 or 12 should be fine.

Wow, I'm running 3s and I feel like that's just stupid overkill but then again I'm not backing down just bulletproofing before I do to much.. ;)

But another rotor bites the dust! So I'm running a HH Trailmaster 3100kv 54/12 on 4s.. Waiting on the same setup your getting.. You shouldn't have much of any heat issue, with a 56/12 or 56/13. Getting 30mph out of mine.. Handles like a dream! | |

So I had a change of mind with my 56t spur and put it on my fathers wraith to try and give him a little more MPH out of his 2S Novak system. I ended up ordering a 58T spur with a 11T pinion. But for now because I hate waiting, I put on a 84t/17T combo so I could test out and see what kind of difference there would be. AND HOLY CRAP! What a difference is top speed (somewhere around 20 mph) and smooth start-up with plenty of torque. I can not emphasize how good of a system Holmes builds. Well worth upgrading to this! |

All your gear options are Really close to each other.. Even if you went 58/12, you would be closer to the 84/17.. Just for thought.. I run a 56 spur, for clearance of the endbell of the mip's I'm running. So might be something to think about, before you go with the 58t spur.. |
