Default Ax2 transmission question

So decided to pickup a Ax2 transmission with the new spawn kit build. One question I had was I have a spare sidewinder 3 with a Castle Creations 1410-1Y 4-Pole Brushless Motor (3800kV) sitting on my bench. Would this be too much for it or would it work. I will be running mostly 2 cell and trail riding / bashing as I have a NC for the rocks but still wanted to be able to crawl.

My AX2 is hooked to a HH Puller Pro 3500 running 3s and sometimes 4s. I punish my rig regularly and the AX2 has held up great so far (I did get the upgraded HD output shaft).

Yeah was going to do the hd output with the Robison 56 spur. Was thinking a 12t pinion?

Yes, 12t with a 3800kv motor on 2s should work just fine. I like to use this speed calculator to play around with different combinations.

Here, you can use this Google Sheets Template I made for this purpose. It's pre-populated with all the stock parameters and you can change any of the orange cells to compare different setups

well gonna try the Puller Pro 3500 standard with BLE Pro see how she handles.

I already have the MIP shafts, Axial Universals, and Axial HD gears with UD in the back. Guess now the weak point is going to be the lockers. Is Vanquish still the go too or HR?

It's not too difficult. You only need to remove the rear cover. The old shaft has e-clips that need to be removed and the new ones uses washers between the inner and outer bearings. There are some pics on the RC4WD website that should help and if you get stuck we can help.

I do not recommend the VP lockers. The set screws either don't stay set or cause the axles to be off-center and bind. The Hot Racing spools are OK, mine had more slop than I cared for so I went with Holmes. GripFab and LURC also make top-end, tight fitting spools.

I got those holmes hobbies lockers, worked wonderful. Seems to on par in quality with the nice lockers, grip fab and lockup rc. The Hd shaft was super easy, if you're in this hobby and you can't change the shaft, you are either overthinking it or in the wrong hobby. Enjoy your new found speed.
