Default Wraith extended stroke mod

Hi all new to this crawling trailing side of rc just finished building my wraith and now waiting on esc and motor I've fitted the yeah racing lowering kit and was thinking of fitting this ( tamiya 54519 ) to get more articulation. Was wondering if any one has done it before? Think I'm gonna order it up anyway and will post up sone pics of my wip when it's finished. Can't Wait to get it muddy

Can't your lowering kit be used as a lift kit? Maybe I'm missing something but not understanding.. Must get coffee..

To much articulation can be a bad thing. I'd leave it and test as is. In general all wheels on the ground is obviously good news for traction but if you have too much flex you find wheels dropping down holes where normally the other wheels would just drag it across. If your in rocks this normally leads to binding or flipping.

I was going to rig up some springs or bands to hold them up so they only drop in extreme conditions. Any other tips to get a bit more flex are welcome

That would be a lot of work with no payback.

I make it for mine...

And the front

And I agree if you put it on the back it will flip on deep hole... I swap for this setup and it seem really perfect for now...

As you can see... The front tire always touch the ground ...

So I Think it s good for the front...
But the rear at same height... The tire lift up... So it will not flipping over anymore...
And if I need I can get huge crazy flex...

I use 1/8 stock for stiffer spring...
The crawl Master around here tell me if it's good or not... I Never participate to a competition... But it crawl really well at my local Hs...
Hope it's help you!!

A Quick look how I build the front pivot shock mounting by reversing the shock mount in my frame...and I use 90mm gmade on sprung set up....

I can see how that will be amazing for crawling in a lot of situations, but how does it react at higher speeds?

The drop free mounts were a fad for a while in the early 2000's on 1:1 crawlers, but were ultimately given up as a bad idea. The problem with such a setup is that there's no good way to damp the suspension movement with the link sagging and it creates a dead zone where the shock can't work, period. This created situations where the rig would "bounce" on descents and made it very unstable. If you want more travel, install a longer shock. If you want it to sit lower, move the top mount up. I'm running 175mm shock in m,y wraith and can nearly get my axles perpndicular to each other without any undamped suspension movement.

In theory it'll offer more articulation, albeit uncontrolled. Articulation isn't everything however.

I remember my first crawler. 90* articulation and it couldn't climb jack squat because too much flex is uncontrollable once gravity takes over.

All of us have been or will be there at some point, it's cool to see in the beginning I suppose.

I tell all my younger or more inexperienced friends that I've already done all the stupid stuff they're thinking about doing so they should let my stupidity be their teacher.
