MS Racing's UnWraithed Wraith

I'm starting a new thread to point out what I am doing with my wraith. I have been wheeling full size rigs for years now and spent years before that racing snowmobiles. I spent a lot of time learning about suspensions and how they work. I also wheel with top level competitors in class 4 RcRocs and have learned a lot from them as well. As I built my full size rig, I studied a lot about link design and the use of a 4 link calculator before building the current suspension in my rig. I decided to take the same approach with this one. I intend to use all my knowledge to improve the suspension and overall performance of the wraith. Some of my ideas may seem a bit strange or way out of the box, but what fun would there be doing something boring like everyone else. I won't always show or describe exactly what I am doing, I want to leave it up to you all to think a little with me. So lets have fun and see where this goes.

for those following my last thread, some of this will be the same, I apologize. Lets hope this one doesn't get pulled off the tracks.

I started by measuring the rig and scaling it up to enter it in my 4 link calculator. Based on the numbers, there is a lot that can be done to drastically improve the climbing ability.

Next I spent some time changing the links to maximize stability as well as climbing performance.

Re: MS Racing's UnWraithed Wraith

I needed to figure out a way to see if my changes were going to work as planned. I disconnected the front driveshaft and propped the front tires up on a box and added weight to the box until the rear tires could not push it across the carpet any longer. I did the same after changing everything to the new link design and I could easily push the weight that the old system could not. This tells me that the weight of the rig is now being transferred better to the rear tires, providing more traction. The next test will be real world to see if it climbs better.

So out to my test spot to try out the new suspension. I am not using the dig function here on these climbs. The rear diff is close but still needs a little more work.

Re: MS Racing's UnWraithed Wraith

I was pretty happy with the rear foams for the most part but wanted them just a little stiffer. I put them in the freezer with 1 bead ring off each wheel. Ten minutes later I put the ring back on then took them out. The air inside expanded as they warmed up to room temperature giving them a little bit of air pressure. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...e8553ca4b8.jpg

I was also not that happy with the boring shape of the "body" so I narrowed it up a little to give it a bit more shape.

I'm also not sure how much I like the roof on it. My 1:1 is open top too.

As you can see in the last pics, I'm also in the middle of installing the new esc and moving everything around. I picked up some scales so I can get my weight balanced out while I'm at it.

If I had a crawler as nice as your 1:1 I would punt my wraith off mountain and never look back
