Default Aluminum servo horn?

I never used a aluminum servo horn but do I need a nut to go on the back of the screw on the arm so it doesn't unscrew the screw...I was just gonna use axial aluminum horn on savox servo..thx

You will at least want to locktite it, but adding a nut on the back is the best way.

I know it's tough to see but I put the screw in from behind before I mounted the horn to the servo and just use the nut to lock it on. Now I don't have to worry about the nut hitting my servo case when I do a maximum turn.

I would be careful with those ones from ebay. I have found out the hard way that they are made out of Popmetal and will bend if you roll your rig. But at that price it's hard to beat, just make sure and order at least 2-3 so you have some for backup.

I'm using lock nuts on the back of mine, I figure it couldn't hurt to have one on there, and yes, be weary of the $1.50 servo horns.

You get what you pay for. If it's $1.50 buy a bunch because they will fail. At times it's better to spend the $$ up front but a servo horn isn't horrible to replace... at home with all your tools. Out on the trail you may not want to be replacing horns ever time a rock looks at you funny.

Like said above a nut on the back is the best way but beware of interference. I ended up using a low profile nylock but on the back of the axial AL servo horn just for the extra insurance.

Damn you havok, you're giving me more ideas. My pumpkins are all chewed up and I recently bought skids for my SCX10. I like your skids, are they DIY or did you buy them? That bar looks beefy but I'd be worried that the button head might cause it to hang up. Since the wraith will be laid up for a bit waiting on a new ESC/motor combo I may have to fab something up. I want to get AL diff covers but I'd rather not get them all dinged up and have a little protection.

I would say sorry for that, but building on these is more than half the fun!!
The skids are Death Metal Garage's skid plates (DMG) here is the links:
DMG Wraith rear diff skid plate (1)
DMG Wraith front diff skid plate (1)
they are specific to each axle, hence both links. I also was thinking about the screw to as I've seen other people drill out the screw hole and put a tapered screw in, I just haven't had time to do so. These will definitely keep your diff covers from being chewed up.

Mine is the Axial hard anodized, dual/clamping, alloy servo horn
a little more buck then some... but the quality/fit is worthy IMO.

Axial Racing - Aluminum Servo Horn 25T (Hard Anodized)

The rccrawler vendors here should have it as well...

ebay as well... or

Amazon.com: Axial AX30836 Aluminum Servo Horn 25T: Toys & Games

I only used blue locktite on my BH screw/servo horn.
Inserted from the backside of the horn.
Only needed to snug the button head screw in the horn's threads
Once the locktite had dried... it has never backed off.

~ couldn't hurt to add a nut for extra measure/just be sure it clears the linkage !? ~
