Default Spur and pinion combo

Hello,

I'm currently running 12/56 gearing which is stock for my wraith spawn, problem is after I ran it the other day I picked it up from the skid plate and it was so hot. I took its temperature and it was way over 210 think it was 240 give or take unplugged it real fast...it's a TorqueMaster Expert 540 Brushed Electric Motor (27T) from Holmes Hobbies. The ESC was cool which is a TorqueMaster BR-XL Brushed ESC (Waterproof)...running 3s 35c continuous 70c burst lipos 3300mah.

I jumped to to 11/64 but the spur gear rubs on my drive shaft end. Looking to get a 60t spur hoping that fits and helps my Temps....there doesn't seem to be much in the way of gearing for the spawn.

Axial 60T steel spur, Yeti/Bomber uses same spur / dual slipper as Spawn, any to suit that will work also
Axial Steel Spur Gear 32P 60T Yeti

If you prefer to stay plastic I'm lead to believe the Associated spur works also but have not tried it personally
Associated Spur Gear, 60Tooth 32P

Edit: oops, sorry messed up link to Axial spur, fixed

Ck your motor timing also my TM was off at first. If its to far off it can cause heat issues.

well after some research on the timing, i have looked at my motor and it is set to the neutral or 0 degree mark. I presume thats an ok spot? also found a metal 60t spur thats on the way

Installing a second motor to drop temps seems kinda silly but people tell me I have a weird sense of humor.

I run 56/9 with my HH 30t. 3s as well...

You shouldn't be having any heat issues with a stock Wraith running that motor and gearing. It sounds to me like you have some binding going on somewhere. Make sure your drive train turns smoothly and freely without the pinion attached and that the pinion/spur mesh is set properly.

it got quit a bit of metal upgrades so i may be a little heavier than a stock spawn, its stock height except i have the XL version of the mud slingers with aluminum wheels, which i don't think adds that much height to it so the drive shafts aren't at a weird angle. have the VP v2 diff housings, i do have a 60t spur coming so was going to try that.

dual motor was just a curiosity thing for the most part was wondering if you would be a benefit or a hindrance, if it helped with heat....bonus lol......

Holmes recommends a 10t pinion for that motor and spur. You could probably do a 12 if you run under drive gears in the axles.
