Default Beef tubes?

Are beef tubes worth it or should I save up and get some ssd or vanquish axles housings?

IMO they're worth it. I can't justify buying a set of VP or SSD axles when the lava rock I crawl on will just chew them up plus aluminum hangs up on it. If you're just looking for strength, Dlux axle trusses are also a good option.

Thanks for the info mikebecher I will look into the dlux truss.

My main issue with the plastic is the screws holding the C hubs coming loose or stripping out.

Will a regular aluminum truss like the vanquish help strengthen the axle?

Or would I be better off with the dlux carbon fiber truss?

If you want some low, unsprung weight (which you do if you're going to do any serious crawling) get some beef tubes. Trusses are a good addition for strength but don't do much for getting that center of gravity down, although the dlux trusses allow you to drop the servo which also helps.

The difference with the Dlux truss is that it spans out to the lockouts. The others' are re-designs of stock parts in aluminum.
I run just beef tubes and stock trusses in my wraith. But I thought a snapped axle housing on the yeti warranted the full beef tube/ Dlux treatment.
If you want to put the Dlux truss on the wraith, be aware that its taller so you might lose some up-travel.

Here's another vote for beef tubes and DLux trusses. I have this setup on two rigs and they both see hard driving, tumbles, crashes, cartwheels, and hard landings. Never had a problem from either truck. I'd also suggest adding DLux's modified AR60 housing for $20 so you can improve the internals reliability as well.
