Wraith Bed/Battery Tray

I'm not a fan of the battery up front mod. I believe it makes the Wraith to front end heavy and you have to mod the body to get the battery in and out.

I want my rig to have it's weight evenly distributed and still be able to replace the battery easily, so I did this.

It's made of aluminum, keeps the battery low, and pushes it up to mid chassis. I still need to find a addesive padding to go underneath the battery to keep it from moving during heavy hits.

That's a good take on doing a rearward battery, with still keeping it in balance. My issue is that I have the Spawn. I don't want to remove the 4 screws and body to remove the battery. I could mod the body mounts, but don't like the idea of the clips sticking out...
Your idea seems to work well! Did you keep the original tray underneath or remove it?

What is the reason of having the battery at the back?

you want even weight distributing if you want to go fast

It's a crawler, but I want to be able to crawler more than uphill. Being balanced like this allows it to do everything pretty well. If you have all the weight up front, it doesn't do so well going downhill.

If u plan to crawl with that,a dig would be right for the thing, but thats coming at a price.Anyway i dont see much of advantage having the battery like that

honestly i wouldn't run the battery like than unless you want to go fast. you'll adjust to it with the battery in the front if all you're doing is crawling

Re: Wraith Bed/Battery Tray

Very nice design which i may use on my wraith as i can 3D print parts.

What i did to my wraith is that:

I originally bought Venom 6400mah battery but didnt know it is very thick which the stock battery doesnt fit.

I didnt want to change wraith massively so i placed the battery laterally over the top of the battery tray. I didnt figure out how to hold the battery in place until I realised that the rolling cage support I used has six holes so i designed and 3D printed a piece to push the battery very tightly in place.

The battery problem:

The piece I designed:

The battery has been pushed in place.

So I can use both thin and thick batteries without any problem. The central gravity of my wraith when using 6400 mah battery is right in the middle of the entire track (I dont use it for crawling).

Nice fix for a problem, but how will it affect your COG?

The CoG is slightly moved towards the front compared with when the battery is placed in the stock battery tray but the height doesnt change. ;-)
