I run HH 3500kv xl in my Yeti great motor.. 3s lipo..

If you're using your Wraith for crawling and/or don't have a bombproof driveline, the Puller Pro XL is an awful choice. Really guys? That's your first recommendation for the noob? Awful low speed control and parts annihilating torque. Matthew, why don't you tell us what you are intending to use your Wraith for. As far as KV goes, the higher the number the faster the motor. IIRC KV means 1000 RPMs per volt.

+1 for somebody with a heart... lololol. Those motors will CRUSH the stock driveline if you haven't upgraded anything. To reliably run that you'll need HD tranny gears, HD tranny output, 32 pitch metal spur and pinion geared down, MIP or equivalent shafts, HD ring and pinion, and upgraded axle shafts like Axial Universals or something even stronger. If you're not willing to spend all that money up front or one item every time you try to run your Wraith maybe you should think about a little less power.

I want to crawl some and then 4 wheel drift it. I'm looking at the non xl. What kv should I get? Thank you. And will I still get good run time. I run a lipo 5000 2s now.

You'll get plenty of runtime out of a 5000mah battery when crawling. Going full throttle bashing will drop your run times significantly but crawling should give you at least 2 hours out of that pack. I'd suggest that if you do 50% or more crawling to go with the 3500. If you'll be spending more of your time going fast, I'd say the 4500 is better suited for you. Or you can have the best of both worlds and run 2s for crawling and 3s for bashing. It's like having both motors.

I found the thread 'puller pro lays down the power' in the holmes hobbies vender section was very useful too.
For 2s, the 4500 will look like the best choice, since you will get closest to the full 50k rpm motor limit, which, as i read it, means you will get most effective use of the motor.
3500kv gives you safe 2s and 3s use, with the 3s giving you a step up in power.... But 3500kv's seem to be out of stock.

I just bought a 2700kv, currently on 3s. My stock 12/56 gearing is too low and slow for my taste. I think a 14 or 15 pinion will have the beast doing some satisfying leaps. I'll maybe go 4s at some point... But for now i'm loving the new motor.

I personally got the Holmes Hobbies ESC and the trailmaster 3300KV motor, on 2s so far it has been doing great, I also followed the gearing recommendation for brushless sensored motors thats on here (hot racing steel super duty 32p 56t spur, robinson racing hardened 14t pinion). Unlike some people's experience I still have great low speed control. I shredded the stock transmission gears in about 5 minutes of running. After installing the axial metal set I also upgraded to MIP drive shafts. I haven't had an issue yet though with my axles, ring/pinion gears, or my transmission output. I will have to agree with some though, while going brushless is worth it, be ready to upgrade the drivetrain.

Just my experience, mileage may vary!

DBX, careful with 4s, it's so addicting. I used to run 3s and 4s on my Holmes 2200kv puller pro and it's fantastic. Now she just gets fed 4s. I think I'm hooked the same way I was when I made the switch from 2s to 3s. I just love that extra power always on tap. I've even started using 4s on my IFS Bomber running a Mamba Monster X and 3500kv puller pro. I just capped the max throttle at 90% in the ESC to try and stay under Max RPMs. These Holmes motors are amazing already, on 4s, they're phenomenal!

was supposed to be about a week away. Just got an update that it will be the end of the month. I tried to not run out of stock on the 3500s, but when I posted that stock was getting lower we had people make a run on inventory and wipe us out.

I would probably say 3500kv, but that is my go-to choice for almost every single rig. A 2700 or 4500 would also have the flexibility to do what you want.

Jumping in on this as i don't want to make an unnecessary new thread.

So i am building a class 2 hardbody rig with a full metal drivetrain. Even if i am thinking of keeping the stock 48P 87T spur and a 16T pinion (is my stock configuration, however 2 rigs have a metal spur. But the mayhem it makes!).
In another comp rig i run a Tekin brushed combo on 3S and it's sweet. But for this i 've set my mind on a HH configuration.
Like the BRXL esc and a Crawlmaster pro motor. Yet i am in doubt if it should be a 13T or a 16T. She will run on 3S (don't ask me why, i am just used to that).
I like some buttersmooth crawling and a bit of wheelspeed when needed.
What would your choice be? 13T or 16T?

Your opinion and thoughts on this are appreciated!

13t. I have 2 of them, run them both on 3s, exactly what you described. Butter smooth low speed control and plenty of wheel speed even on my 1.9 rig.

Thanks!
I will mirror the Tranny, so i guess i have to order it "Reverse"/clockwise. What would be the benefit of the 6 or 12 degree timing if it is already running clockwise?

Advance timing gives a bit more power going forward and a bit less in reverse depending on how much timing is used. It's also easier on the motor and I believe it makes brushes last longer somehow.

Supershafty top shaft, and steel transmission gears installed, slash slipper 56t,14t pinion. Waiting on Holmes for the puller 3500. Drive line screw was rubbing supershafty motor plate, ground some off plate fixed that, also slipper is rubbing plate in one spot not badly but will that be ok?
