Default The beater

This is my free, yes you read that right, free wraith rtr. It had a whole 3 packs put through it before I got it.

It came with all the crap that came in the box too. My bosses brother bought it a few years ago and stripped the plastic servo horn then shoved the 24 tooth horn from the spare parts on it only to have the Ae2 fail to arm. It has been sitting in the office at work ever since and he finally got tired of it sitting there so he gave it to me for Christmas.

Brought it home and adjusted the trim so the esc would arm, replaced the servo horn with a clamping one I had and drove it through a 7.2v stick pack. Fawking turd!

Swapped in an mmp into the stock location and dropped in a 4s pack. 3 minutes later the stock motor was smoked. I know, shocking right?

Dropped in a 19 turn double phazer motor and it made it 3' before throwing a winding.

I really just need to get another lower kv brushless motor for this thing and be done with it. Right now the rig is torn down waiming on a new powe plant.

So far I have a bunch of parts already on hand:

Mip's
Steel lower trans gear, need an idler gear.
Shift hubs.
Tsl's or bfg's with CI foam and 6 bolts.
Aluminum links.
My last solar d772 will die in this rig before getting my promodler V4.
Axial alloy shocks.
VP knuckles.
HR c hubs.
VVD's until I pick up another set of universals.
Metal steering links.

A friend is giving me a set of lowering keys, supershafty wraith motor plate and a brand new poison spider body so I can make it look a bit better too.

This should be a fun rig, I'll trash on it till its dead undoubtedly but it'll be fun while it lasts.

The closest thing to scale points I'll be associated with are the ones on the display of my digital scale I picked up today from harbor freight. There will be no dolls in my wraith. The interior is probably coming out when I get around to it too just to make sure.

Its going to turn out badly for the rig I can at least assure you of that. Belly up, short shocks, much more power and traction will be a hoot. The guys I crawl with all have wraith too so I'm sure we'll end up in some stupid competition with them this summer.

Jlo and I are way ahead of you. Putting together a parts list to get his rig back together.

So this happened today...

That's what I get for turning my back on Jmoritz while I was working on something else.

Jmoritz coughed up some lowering things to raise the upper shock mounts so I installed them with a set of alloy axial shocks with traxxas dual rate springs. That dropped it a lot, like the servo is tucked inside the chassis low. Perfect. I'm doing the belly up deal so it'll all work out once I cut the front of the chassis off.

Swapped the stock junk c hubs and knuckles, dog bones etc out for hr c hubs, vp knuckles, vvd's. A set of shift hubs with r35 bfg's on CI foams and 1" 6 bolt wheels. Also got it moving again with a new 27 turn holmes expert motor from PsychoJ-lo. She moves again until I tear it apart again tomorrow and swap links, trans gears and mip's into the mix too.

I like it. Nothing wrong with a free rig.

Got a Tekin gen1 17.5 if you want it.

Getting there. Not sure how long the stock gears are going to live in the diffs but I'm sure it won't be long.

I actually had one in my hands today at Jmoritz's house. I'm running 4s on this rig so that motor would cook itself if the rotor didn't come apart first. Thanks though! I'm eyeballing a 3000hd that Jmoritz says didn't have enough power for his yeti. That should live on 4s.

Progress. This should keep PsychoJ-lo and Jmoritz from shoving a fawking doll in this thing while I'm not looking.

Also got the rear links changed and rear mip installed. Tomorrow is rc day so I'll finish it then.

I've been slammed at work due to snow and slow going in the gorge but I did get back at it last weekend one day.

Swapped an old set of pitbull XOR's mounted on 1.5" CI 6 bolt wheels. Figured out some alloy front upper links and moved the lights around after cutting the broken bumper off. Now the smaller headlights are on the shock lowering brackets as rock lights and the larger lights are headlights. I think of I trim the body around the shocks I can lower it enough to cut out the headlights from the body so they shine through.

Also dropped a 27 turn holmes motor in. Geared at 12/90 on 4s makes it a fun snow machine.

Nice. I was just thrashing my wraith at lunch in the snow also. I like watching the others that actually drive their stuff.

Well that solves the mystery of why I was 3 wheeling in the snow.

Swapped a stock dog bone in and kept playing. I'm really not impressed with vvd's after yet another break. I have the steering angle dialed back so far the dog bone clears with no adjustments needed so I wasn't cranking on the silly thing.

Not so much. When I first got back into crawling I thought they were the cats ass but I never had the scratch to buy them. Picked this set up in a package deal and have been less than impressed. This is the second time I've broken one. The last was a stub shaft.
