| Smooth Skid Plate search
WHY isn't there a Smooth bottom skid plate made for a Wraith? There are at least 10 different aftermarket brands out there and they all have retarded holes or steps etc on the bottom. I know there are manufacturers out there that actually run RC trucks but, none of them can see a use for a skid plate that will skid rather than hang up. RC4WD had someone make a skid plate for them out of Delrin (perfect) then they cut big ass holes in it to catch branches and rocks. And how about a little extra protection around the link ends? How easy would that be? Sorry for the rant but, If I had the machine, I would build them and they would sell. |

I wish the scale shop would do a wraith skid. That's exactly what I was talking about.

I would not have thought to look at Shapeways. Nice find but, I still think the front should be a ramp / angle not a corner. And "White", Yuck. If you see one just like the "Scale shop's" only wider and longer....Let me know. Thanks |

I picked up a Circle City RC skid. 25 bucks shipped, 3D printed. Any color you want. Print quality isn't the best, but not bad. I think he just needs to slow his print speed down. You can find them on Facebook. |

Is that CC RC 3D skid missing the other side for lower links? OP, have you seen the BPC skid? It wraps up like you want. |

^^ That thing looks like rock velcro. Personally, I get hung up way more by my aluminum boatsides than the plastic skid...

Yeah, I don't really know how it would perform, but in the spirit of answering the topic I figured this might be something someone may want. Lol - Rock Velcro.

Thats why you go with what I posted or BPC, both are stainless steel and slide like butter.

Mine has lower link mounts on both sides. I installed it, I'll snap some pics tonight to show the clearance I gained. The skid is completely flush with the frame rail it's screwed into. I think I gained around 1/4" or more of clearance over the stock skid. | |

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I ordered one of the CC RC skids from RCAddicts. I'll let you know how it does.

Next problem. The screws that hold this into the frame dont bite. Either the holes are too big or the plastic is too soft. Not one out of eight even gets tight. Yes I tried longer screws....even measured the screw hole depth. Pisser.....trying to find some threaded m3 inserts to put in there. |

Doesn't get any smoother than the stainless BPC skid. This thing glides over anything and is bulletproof. It's also good weight right where you want it. I run 2 of these and love them. After a year of sliding off rocks they're still in perfect shape. This was an easy $35 decision.
