I was looking at spur and pinion gears and I assumed the 32P would be more robust than 48P and I was going to go with a 56 spur and 9, 10 and 11 pinions to play with. Do you have any suggestions on what kind of gears to buy? are any of them better quality than others?

I run a super shafty style bulletproof trans, and run a 32p slipper/spur. Due to the hardened spur, I can only get 10 as the lowest super hard. That just happens to work perfect, as I like wheelspeed. Many would prefer a 9.
The stock gear isn't bad, but the stock slipper is awful to adjust....on or off, no slip.

OPIE got new wheels, but didn't get long enough hubs, so they are ordered.
But the wheels looked sweet with the new Hyrax tires mounted , so ANDY is wearing them for now, OPIE is wearing ANDYS ....

What I found interesting is the Hyrax is tall.... Ruptures, Hyrax, SSXl

OPIE's wheel issue is not a fault of SSD. These wheels are the bomb !
I'm running RC Bros knuckle weights and they interfere with the hubs. I could trim the interior of the hanger, but 475 hubs will clear and give me a bit wider track.

OH MY !!!!!
JRH and Holmes Hobby come thru !!
Had heat issues with my BLE , so I sent it in and they tested it and said it checked out perfect. But the bec I was using ( and thought was perfect) was the issue. Holmes sent it off to Castle where it is still in engineering to figure it out. Justin and JRH said too long and sent me a complete BLE , bec with my XT 60 soldered on and the bec set at 8.4v
I got it on SUNDAY from usps !!
Wowsers !!!

ESC? I am getting everything confused apparently. My electronics purchased are:
Puller Pro 540 3500kv
Mamba X
Castle Creations BEC 10A
Hitec RCD HS-7950TH

So the BLE is another piece or is that in the Mamba X?

Mamba X is the ESC. And you probably won't need to run the external BEC with the MX as it has an 8amp internal BEC.

Its not quite as good as the new X.
little less power and no "aux" wire....Equal to a MMP (mamba max pro)
BUT does have better firmware for dedicated crawling. Biggest difference is the frequency adjustment...it stops the motor ringing sound.

Your in great shape with the X !!

I thought I got the new X?? What is the new X?

Any way, I knew the Mamba was the ESC but I was wondering about the BLE. I guess I do not know what a BLE is.

How will I know if I need an external BEC or not?

With that servo if set to more than 6v you can cook your rx.
My Futaba is rated to 7.4v but I still use a Holmes bypass as I run my servos at 8.4v that will cook my Futaba rx.
You have the "new X" older was a 1/8 capable big esc.

I think so, as the red wire is missing at the rx end.
Sure looks funny, but I suspect the double block is the trick
