| Proline 2.8 Masher's
I decided to get some Pro-Line 2.8 Masher, factory mounted tires (Pro-Line part# 1192-12), not for crawling as I have a fairly large collection of crawling and trail specific tires already, but for bashing in winter or summer as these are nice and wide with an all purpose thread pattern. Tools you are going to need to modify the Desperado wheels to make them work with the stock Axial hexes and AR60 axles are as follow: - J size drill bit; and - 3/8" diameter 90 degree chamfer tool. First things on the to-do list to oversize the center hole of the wheel using the J sized drill bit. The photo is post-operation. Then, using the chamfer tool, we are going to chamfer the edge of the center hole, from the hex side so that the step of the Axial hex can seat itself properly. Last thing is to mount these big and bad boys on your Wraith, but you will need some washers as none come with them unlike the Axial plastic bead lock wheels. Here I am using some SS washers I had lying around as these will be used mainly in snow with tire chains. Once mounted the overall width, on a Wraith with stock axles and hexes is 13 inches. D |
