Got the front frame area fixed up today. Used a pipe cutter to take out 24mm. Truth be told, I'm a big dummy and only took out 14mm in this photo....oops 5mm more each side and I was back on track.  Axial 3mm stud in between the two pieces. Did the same thing with the other crossmember.  Back together..... Now I need a hood to cover this mess.  |

I don't have a box break in my garage... So I had to improvise with a piece of plywood, TJ tracbar bracket, and some clamps to hold it to my weld table.  After much beating and bending, I had the cowl bent into shape. Then I just clamped it to the rig and traced the bottom side.  A whole lot of cutting, sanding, hating the look, freakin out, scratching my head, drilling and countersinking vent holes, more sanding..... I don't love it; but it turned out decent.  Decided to go with the forward flip hood. I'm going use Velcro to hold it closed at the back. Some guys prefer pins because the battery doesn't have to be strapped in, if you have a snug fit. They both have their pros and cons. Gonna try this first because I can always drill more holes.  |

You could also use neodymium magnets to hold it closed.

Nice job on drilling out the holes in the hood by the way, if I were doing it it would likely have 2 or 3 holes that were not lined up and enough to cause OCD fits... yours however looks perfect! |

The added aluminum to the tummy tuck is an awesome idea. I've been hesitant to do it since the upper rail likes to break. And tieing in the upper link mounts and part of the cage is a great idea too. Keep up the good work. |

Even when you try very hard, sometimes things just don't work out. The hood in the previous pictures is a good example. It's perfectly functional, rock solid, etc, etc.... I just don't like the way it looks. Not sure why. SO..... I tried my hand at making another.  It hinges in the back this time for whatever reason. So far, I like this version much more than my first. Not perfect, perhaps; but I certainly learned a lot about shaping sheet aluminum. Can't put a price on that.  Looks good and aggressive from the front end. I like that sure enough....lol  |

I cut the corners to roughly that shape; but left plenty extra. Then I shaped the rounded corner with using various auto body hammers/anvils. (Not sure about the terminology there. Not a body guy. By anvils I mean various shaped, heavy, rounded objects used as a backer........follow me?) If you look closely in this photo you can see the scarring left behind by the anvil as I hammered the other side shaping it. I really didn't bother sanding this side since it's the bottom.  The shaping process left the corner rounded; but the bottom edge was all crazy depending how much material was bent over. I just trimmed it nice and flat, and then sanded all the hammer marks out to get the finished corner. I learned a lot making this hood. It was fun.  | |
