Dolly.......yes

Didn't think anvil sounded right. Thanks

I used 1/4" round rod for the two longer bends over the "fenders" and grill.

The cowl was bent with a duck bill pliers.

Finally got some RC time today.

Didn't want to spend it fabbing parts for my rig

Addyson and I went wheeling instead.....

Bit further today.
Pulled both rigs apart and swapped the pinion bearings for the Oilite bushings.
New ring gear bearings in my rig since it was in such bad condition when I purchased it.
Both of our rigs are now running the underdrive gears in the rear axle.

Took out the wheel weights the previous owner was running in the front tires.
Add in another donation to the cause from my retired sportsman rig.
Here you can see how I notched the brass to allow more weights to hang on the inside of the RCBros hanger.

Nice snug fit around the VP knuckles.

They sit nearly flush with this particular wheel. Results may vary....

Here's the lead I removed from one front wheel.
3.20oz

Knuckle weights.
2.65oz
So I lost 0.55oz per side.

Here's a set of stainless tubes I bought but never installed in the sporty.
I'm thinking about brass tubes just like them; but for argument sake they weigh 1.35oz.
Altogether that would be 6.65oz if I put these stainless tubes in.
The old setup was 6.40oz (1/4oz less actually).
Nearly the same, without the additional strain on my running gear.
Not done here; but happy with the theory of it all.

I've always wondered, does under driving the rear give you any skidding or hop?

I don't notice anything when driving on the street.
Tracks and drives normal as far as I can tell.
It does turn sharper with the rear dragging a bit.
In the dirt there's enough give that I wouldn't think it would be noticeable unless you are really going fast.
Neither of my rigs are terribly fast. Expecting to do more trails and crawling vs racing around.

However, backing up on hard surfaces is a bit weird......

Stayed up way too late tonight shrinking a $9 piece of aluminum from Homeless Depot.

Cleaned up version in the assembly shop.
I got this cool rear bumper with the rig, so I cleaned it up to reuse with the new skins.

Really happy to have this step done.
Now the rig doesn't have any body panels from the previous owner.
It's finally becoming my creation.

With the exterior in better repair, I can finally start to address the interior.

I really like that hood! I'm inspired to make a wooden negative and try to shape a new one for my Wraith.

That rear panel is nice. I have the same one. Though... I broke my hook at a G6 event doing a pull...

Thanks.
Really, really good idea making the negative.
Then if you trash a hood, you can easily replicate one.
May have to steal that plan....

Sorry bout yer hitch....

I am trying to source aluminum tubing and what to tap to use to thread them and then of course what hardware you use. I tried Home Depot, Lowes and Ace Hardware so now I am looking on line.

I like what you have done!

Thanks.

I have purchased the aluminum tubing at Ace Hardware and a local hobby shop that closed now, unfortunately.
Ace Hardware is hit and miss. My local store doesn't carry it. One not terribly far away does, sometimes........online may be cheaper than running all over the place looking.

I believe the tubing is 3/16" x .094" wall tubing that works for tapping 3mm.

3/16" x .035" tubing works well for making spacers since the 3mm fits right through.

Did some more body work today.
Made the rear deck lid and rear bulkhead.
Mocked up a rough floor pan.

The floor pan is still being finalized.
I haven't committed to a host of issues:
the tunnel/center console
# of seats (I only have 1 good seat, currently)
drivetrain access
dashboard.......
I've still got a long way to go in the driver's cabin.

BUT, I am happy with the deck lid, so that's a win.

The tummy tuck sure takes away room in the interior section. That is going to be a challenge for me. Looking good

Started working on the electronics tray/fender wells tonight.
Figured I needed to make an actual battery compartment before I could be certain where the passenger cabin firewall would be located.

Boxed in the battery area and forward esc/rx cavity.
Corners still need a bit of body work and nothing has been cleaned up yet.

I didn't beat myself up trying to make it airtight.
Just wanted it to look good from the top and sides.

Tossed the axle and a shock "near" the rig, just to look.

Did you fab that front shock mount/brace or does someone offer that? I have some leftover aluminum plate that might work perfect.

I fabbed the front bracing myself.
Did that when I narrowed the front end a little bit.
