Default RC4WD aluminum axle housings

So, I just picked up some RC4WD aluminum axle housings for the Wraith. I've got everything re-assembled, but had a couple questions. (I searched the forum and didn't find anything). Anyway, does anyone know of a good bearing retaining compound? I've noticed the outer pinion bearing for the axles keeps wanting to float out. (noticed this on my original AR60 axles as well and was one of the reasons I replaced them.) IDK if I should just use a dab of superglue, red threadlock? Also, once everything was re-assembled, and the diff cover off, I notice a decent amount of side to side play on the ring gear. My fear is that this will see me sheering or stripping the ring gear, pinion gear or both. Is there a way to shim the ring gear up so I don't get the side to side play, or if I shim the pinion enough will that prevent it from happening? Anyway, any suggestions much appreciated!

I'm pretty sure it's possible to shim the ring gear but I don't remember off the top of my head what size to use. For some reason 10x12 comes to mind but I could be wrong. Shim the pinion as well so it's tight but not binding.

Bearing retaining compound. Maybe a wrap or two of teflon tape? I'd avoid superglue or red loctite because you might have a bitch of a time getting the bearing back out.

Need 10mm shims for the locker/spool bearings to limit their side float

5mm for the pinion bearings
https://www.amainhobbies.com/yokomo-...c-s50s/p270533

I wouldn't use retaining compound or glue, it's not necessary.
The drive shaft coupling stops the bearing coming out of the housing.
If you still have some bearing float you can use the 5mm shims or a 5mm oring to take up the space between the coupling & the bearing.

If you still want to tighten the bearing in it's pocket lay some cling film or plastic bag over the bearing hole before pushing the bearing in, then just pop out the center hole.

For the pinion one my wraith and yeti I shim them just enough not to bind.
I use KYOSHO ID5 OD7 shims.
Have a look on this post, it's in French but with loads of pics and part numbers.

Awesome info. Thanks Guys! I shimmed the pinions front and rear, and that seemed to clean up the slop and help with the bearing retention. I think I may still shim a bit between the DS coupling and bearing as well though.
