Default Vanquish VVD binding

This short VVD for my wraith is binding when I tighten up the knuckle. If I loosen up one screw about 2 turns the knuckle loosens up and the axle spins freely. The bind in the axle rotating is only in one spot as if the shaft was bent. I checked the shaft as best as I could on a very flat surface and saw no noticeable wobble. The knuckle will not turn freely if both screws are tight.

Now the weird part is that when I put the stock shaft back in, everything is fine. Even weirder is that the VVD rotates and wiggled very freely when outside of the axle housing. The axle housing does have beef tubes in it.

I was trying to install these in my existing axle. I bought them used and will be disappointed it they are bad. I have had a strong of bad parts bought used here lately. Unfortunately I bought them weeks ago and am just now getting to use the parts. Also the locker was a fancy set screw 2 piece vanquish locker that had all the screws sheared off. So it's trash too. Vanquish no longer makes them so I can not get parts for it.

Are the knuckle screws hitting the vvd?

I have had the same problem, the problem i had was that the tang was abit to long, and woud cause binding.

You coud try and grind down the end abit.

nope, the scuffs were there when I got them. The axles I have them in are better. There is no visible contact anywhere.

So I attempted this mod. It helped the knuckle to move freely. I then found the chamfer to not be far enough back. That helped the rotating stickiness some. It still has a slightly tight spot in one point of the rotation. No idea what is causing it. I know that the stock u joint shaft works great.

Stock lockers? I had an issue with binding when I had the HR set screw lockers. It was tough getting them exactly even when tightening them.
