| Caged Wraith project
I traded for a Wraith with an Integy cage part#OBM-1467. Has anyone had any experience with this particular Integy cage? Some pictures and advice would be very helpful. I’m having trouble with the servo clearance in the front , not allowing the suspension to fully compress. And also the shock mounting locations, which there are only one front and three rear, don’t seem to be geometrically correct. The shocks have no angle at all in the front as far as leaning in or out, and are actually leaning out at the top in the rear. Doesn’t seem like good suspension geometry at all. I’m using stock Wraith shocks for now with plans of upgrading to Prolines or internal spring shocks later. I know the performance would probably be a lot better with the lighter stock chassis, and the steel cage is definitely top heavy, but it looks so damn cool I’m willing to sacrifice some performance and put a little time into it to try and make it work. It’s already brushless powered so the extra weight shouldn’t be that noticeable performance wise. I’ve searched the forums and all I can find any reference to is the VFX 2.2 or standard DIY Integy cages. This one I have has the hinged flip up cage piece in the front, setup similar to a car hood.

You can play around with link length to get the axles in a sensible place in relation to the cage.

Unless your bashing and jumping a lot, achieving full compression on both shocks simultaneously isn’t really an issue. As long as you can get each side to full compression it should crawl just fine. Alignment of the top and bottom of the shock actually has a lot of play in how it rides as for dampening and spring rates. |
