Default Help with ST Racing Concepts Wraith Aluminum V2 Steering Knuckle

I have these new knuckles together with the STRC c-hubs and aluminum steering links. But I don't understand how STRC intend the drag link to be mounted together with the tie rod. On top of each other with a spacer inbetween? Or tie rod under the knuckle arm? Does anybody have a picture of these mounted?

Huh? What's the difference? If both links fit above, do so, if not - drag link above, tie rod below.

No, they don't fit well above with STRC's own steering links. And either above or below, at extreme steering angle it looks like the balls will be twisted out of the joint.
There is somehow too much angle on the knuckle arm for the ball joint to handle. Also, I am surprised that the tie rod should hang so low. I don't know if the picture really catches the 'problem.

Maybe it's alright. I just wondered if anybody had a picture of these mounted up.

Tie rod below gives extreme toe in.

Toe in is fixed by adding a washer or two between rod and rod end, making it longer. Anyway, that's the way I run my Xtra speed knuckles and Incision links. Also couldn't clear the wheels when both rod ends were mounted above, even with thinner rod ends I had lying around.

You've got them swapped...left on right and vice versa. Steering arms should be towards the top, not the bottom. That will fix your toe in issues as well (for the most part - see below)

Servo link goes on top using a long screw, and the drag link goes on the bottom of the knuckle and then secured with a nut. Attach the drag link to the bottom of the other knuckle with a shorter screw.

Mine is set up here with CMS, but it's arranged the same if you can make it out. Had better pics, but you can thank photobucket for that.

The STRC kit does induce a few degrees of toe in. Good for SMT10 trucks, but not so much for the wraith - a 3mm spacer on either side of the drag link puts it back to parallel.

Yup they look upside down.

Edit, same as swapping left and right as I think about it.

The c-hubs are fine, it's just the knuckles that need to be swapped.

But if I swap the knuckles, they become like this. The universal joint points upwards.

Just for kicks, rotate the chub 180* and leave the knuckle like it is...

I think I've fixed it by extending the tie rod and making my own drag link. Seems to me that STRC's own steering link kit simply doesn't fit their V2 knuckles. Only their V1 knuckles. Annoying.

I considered that but never tried it. But think I've found a solution now.

Ok, now I see what you mean. Huh, that is strange. You could flip the C hub, but that would cause all kinds of issues. I guess flip the knuckles back to how you had them originally and mount both rods on top....see how that affects the toe as well.

Might want to shoot your first pic over to STRC and see what they say. There are no pics of them mounted that I can see anywhere and no directions on the site of course. I have no idea why they would make a knuckle that way - maybe they have a reason.

(edit: - I see you have already done so! lol)

Thanks. I agree
I also reacted to the fact that there are no pictures of them mounted up.
c-hubs and knuckles seem to work very well now, but I will ask STRC what's up with the steering links and lack of pictures/instructions.

Only thing I'd suggest is to flip the bolts if possible. If they have the head on top and you loose the nut on the bottom it might stay together. With the head on the bottom there is a better chance of loosing the nut and bolt.

The knuckles look to be completely wrong by design.

Agreed. I'd be curious to hear their reasoning for moving the steering arm down the knuckle.
