Default Skid plate question

Lately I've found myself in need of a project and this time I decided to scratch build something instead of buying a complete kit and replacing everything with sturdier, cooler bits (i.e. my ESP Clodbuster and TL01 with only a couple original bits) so I located a take off new Wraith frame fairly cheap, it's missing all the suspension and drivetrain (not an issue since I'd just replace it all anyway) the frame is also missing the lower skidplate/trans mount, my question is should I go billet aluminum (if so which one) or is the original Axial skid plenty tough enough?

Plastic. Definitely plastic. Plenty durable and slides better than aluminum. The stock skid is okay, but many people say that it could benefit from more vertical separation of the links. If you're interested in running rear trailing arms, the Bomber skid bolts into the Wraith chassis and has adjustable upper link mounts, you'll have to drill different holes to mount the Wraith tranny to it though. For less money than a stock Wraith skid + link risers, you could buy a 3D printed skid that gives a flat belly, Bomber style rear link mounts, and Wraith transmission mounting from Circle City RC.

Original Axial plastic plates are among the best. Just don't RC4WD's delrin skid for they are weak and not resilient enough.

Out of all the parts ive changed out on my spawn im still using the stock skid and im using a stock skid for one of my scatch build to i dont see any reason to go aftermarket on that link risers are easy to make out of scrap laying around so i wouldent make a desision based on upper link mounts
