Default Mamba X and castle sensored setup

I’m going to outfit one of my Wraiths with a Mamba X and a castle sensored 3800 kv motor. Would the 1410 3800 kv be a better choice than the 1406 3800 kv? Truck will be on 3 s and used trail running, a bit of crawling and ripping through, over and around some obstacles in the back yard.

I would go with the 1410, it is the stronger motor and not much bigger than the 1406 so fitment is not an issue. Who doesn't want more power given the option?

That is unless you can get the combo with the 1406 3800kv motor significantly cheaper. I have seen that combo for as low as $173, the others are usually closer to $200.

I wouldn’t go over 3000kv in a wraith. My PP3500 is way too fast, geared to the floor(56/9) I would look at the slate 2850 or the rock 412

I drove a Wraith with a PP 3500KV on 4S. It would do standing backflips given enough traction and crawl as well as your finger could work the throttle. 56/9 gearing on an otherwise stock Wraith is only about 15 mph with a 3800kv motor and 3S, I don't feel things start getting too fast for the Wraith until you pass 20ish mph.

With a 15 or 18 pinion it would be too fast with a 3800. Yes it does creep with a 9, but that’s as small as you can go .
I don’t have the diff up front , just a locker so I’m fast enough at 9/56

Got a hh puller pro 4500kv in mine on 3s. I forget the exact gearing i have in there at the moment, but it still crawls as slow as you like. Top speed isn’t over the top for a rock racer imo.

IMO,

The 1410 was too much motor. Standing back flips are one thing, but flipping over backwards while at speed is just not a scale experience. I had the power dialed back to about 60% to keep that from happening.
I have a 1406 2850KV in my Bomber now. I know wrong forum. But we are talking power plants, in what amounts to the same drive line. In stock form, it still pulls the front end off the ground and has plenty of speed. I am geared 64/12. Much more scale looking performance.

My $.02,

I have the 1406 2850kv in my wraith on 2s. Will move to 3s soon. A 3800kv on 3s would be too much in my opinion but that's just me. 2850 is plenty of Torque and speed.

I have a new Mamba X sitting here and a new 1406 2850 kv that I purchased to go in a SCX 10 II build. I’ll give it a go in my wraith to see how I like it.

My 2 eurocents:
right now I have a 3500kv sensorless on 3s in muh Wraith (for bashing on snow, my usual motorisation is 35T brushed) on stock 32P gearing and I can't say it's too fast. Of course it cogs like hell but sensored it would probably be fine for slow stuff. Not scale by any means and bound to break parts sooner or later but it would be nice to have that speed AND low end control. But alas, my funds do not allow for that, so as soon as the snow mets I'll be back to 35T+1080 with a 9T pinion.
